As soon as he did, Serenity shifted away, creating distance between them. She firmly told him, “Stay right there. Don’t come any closer.”

With her facial muscles tense, Serenity said angrily, “I know why you kept this from me. Do you really think I’d go after your money just because I found out you own a villa?”

“How much do you earn annually as a senior executive at York Corporation? I bet it’s several million dollars. You’re always busy, either working overtime or attending business functions. Do you report your expenses and hours to the company? You’ve mentioned that you have no girlfriend or wife and that your family is financially stable, so you don’t need to support your parents.”

“You must have saved a substantial amount to afford a villa worth over ten million.”

“I know you’ve been withholding information from me since we got married. You think I’m a scheming woman just looking to get your money.”

As she spoke, Serenity picked up a cushion from the sofa and playfully hit Zachary with it. “Zachary, by hiding the villa from me, you weren’t completely honest. I can’t believe you confronted me the other night for not treating you like family and for holding things back.”

“That’s quite a double standard you have.”

Zachary allowed her to hit him with the cushion; it didn’t hurt at all.

He

Zachary decided to reveal the existence of the villa to Serenity, but he owned multiple properties. He mentioned one to gauge her reaction upon discovering that he had kept something from her.

She was understandably upset.

“Yes, Seren, you’re right. I do have double standards. I know I’m quite full of myself. You have every right to say that about me,” he admitted.

Extending his arms, he pulled Serenity, along with the cushion, into his embrace. He spoke apologetically, “I know my wife isn’t deceitful, and she doesn’t want my money. Please don’t be mad, Seren. It hurts me to see you upset.”

Pinching his arm in annoyance, Serenity asked, “Why are you telling me this now?”

“I usually stay there. I feel it’s my home,” he replied.

Indeed, it was his personal space, a home that belonged solely to him.

“I think we should spend our first night there together,” he suggested.

Serenity pursed her lips and pinched his arm again. “You’re only saying this now because you want to lessen my anger.”

Despite her pinches, Zachary held on tightly, trapping her in his embrace.

“I genuinely want us to be in our home. It means a lot to me. Please forgive me for keeping this from you, Seren.”

Serenity attempted to push him away, but his grip was firm, and she eventually relented.

“Is the villa fully paid for, or are you still paying a mortgage?” she inquired.

Zachary calculated in his mind before responding, “I joined York Corporation right out of college and have been working for several years. I started with an annual salary of a few hundred thousand dollars. It took me a few years to earn my first million, and now I bring home several million each year.

“Although I saved diligently, I wasn’t in a position to pay for the house outright. I have a mortgage, but I made an 80% down payment, so I haven’t had trouble with the monthly payments.”

Repayments. I set aside some money after deducting the mortgage to afford another property before marrying you.

“That’s why I told you that the apartment in Brynfield and the national MPV would go to you if we divorced. It was to compensate for the time you lost.”

Serenity replied, “No wonder you asked me to sign a contract when we first got married. You were so generous in offering me the house. If you can afford a villa, why didn’t you get a better car?”

Chapter 688 It was surprising to learn that Zachary owned a villa there, and not just any villa, but one […]

[20

post-12554","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-married-at-first-sight
["GET
