I’d rather not have to rush to the bathroom too often, especially since it’s not convenient for me to go right now.”

Serenity was at a loss for words.

Since Zachary didn’t want to sleep, Serenity set aside her phone and engaged him in conversation. She did most of the talking while he listened attentively.

As she continued to chat, Zachary’s eyes grew heavy, and he eventually fell asleep.

After the IV bag attached to Zachary was empty, Serenity called the nurse to replace it before settling back in her chair and returning to her phone.

However, her eyelids soon became heavy as well, and she struggled to stay awake.

To prevent herself from dozing off, Serenity set her phone down and got out of bed to use the restroom. She removed her mask and splashed cold water on her face to refresh herself.

Serenity waited until the last bag of IV fluid was empty before waking Zachary for his medication. Only then did she catch up on some much-needed sleep.

The next day, Serenity was awakened by her ringing phone.

It was her sister.

“Liberty.”

“Seren, how is Zachary doing?” Liberty asked, her voice filled with concern.

Sitting up, Serenity glanced at Zachary, who was still in bed, asleep. Serenity glanced at the clock and then gently woke Zachary for his next round of medication.
By the time the doctor made his rounds, Zachary’s temperature had decreased once more, and he appeared to be feeling better.
Mr. Tank stopped by to deliver a hot breakfast for the couple, prepared by his wife. Serenity continued to feed Zachary, one spoonful at a time.
She felt it was important to impress Mr. Tank, as she was receiving a salary from him; otherwise, he might question her value.
Watching the scene unfold, Mr. Tank thought that the CEO’s wife was incredibly caring towards Mr. York.
Her consideration and gentleness were evident.
It was no wonder Mr. York cherished his wife.
Gentleness has the power to soften even the hardest hearts.
Moreover, Mr. York had been more amiable towards Mr. Tank, showing no objection to the doctor’s recommendation for him to stay in the hospital.
Mr. Bucham was correct.
With the CEO’s wife around, she would manage everything and protect their interests.
“Doctor, can my husband’s medication be switched to an injection instead?” Serenity asked.
Zachary was left speechless.
Did he really need a shot?
Why did the doctor have to mention the side effects of the medication?
The doctor responded, “He can receive an injection, but they tend to be more potent and may cause adverse reactions such as nausea and sores.”
Mr. Tank interjected, “It’s fine, doctor. Just give Mr. York the best treatment available.”
Zachary shot Mr. Tank a dirty look.
Mr. Tank was taken aback by the glare.
Had he said something wrong?
Mr. York did not want to remain in the hospital.

The hospital shot might be his way out of this situation. The doctor said, “As you requested a shot, I will arrange to substitute the pills with one.” Zachary wanted to scowl but feared his wife would notice his expression.
