Your sister-in-law would have trampled all over us with Mr. York’s backing.”

Reflecting on his past mistakes, Hank realized Jessica had a valid point, prompting him to quickly drop the subject.

Mr. York was at the top of the social ladder, while Serenity was hardly noteworthy. She was not fortunate enough to be chosen as Mr. York’s wife.

The couple was affectionate as they exited the hotel, and Hank and Jessica encountered Liberty at the entrance.

Liberty was there alone.

While Sonny was asleep, Liberty had left Mrs. Lane at home to care for him so she could wait for Hank and Jessica.

She had chosen to wait for them based on the information and evidence provided by Zachary, who indicated that Hank frequently brought Jessica to dine at the Wilt Spoon Hotel.

Even though she had a falling out with Hank, the situation still pained Liberty. After marrying Hank, she had given him a son, managed their household, and often looked after his parents and sister’s family. Yet, Hank accused her of being financially dependent, spending recklessly, and contributing nothing at home.

Hank labeled her as useless and a glutton because Liberty often sought assistance from Serenity, despite only needing to care for a child.

Liberty needed to eat more to produce enough milk, but Hank criticized her for allegedly trying to starve their son, who was breastfed until he turned one year old.

Hank was stingy with his wife. On the rare occasions when he was in a good mood, he would take her to the food trucks, a place that could fill her stomach without costing much.

However, Hank frequently brought Jessica to dine at the Wiltspoon Hotel, checked on her well-being, sent her gifts, and treated her like a princess.

When Jessica saw Liberty, she playfully clung to Hank’s arm.

Liberty did not overlook her provocative gesture.

Hank halted before guiding Jessica closer to Liberty, asking coldly, “What are you doing here? Where’s Sonny? Didn’t you say he couldn’t leave your side because he’s terrified?”

“Your sister demanded fifty thousand dollars from my sister as compensation for Sonny’s mental anguish. What? Are you now shifting the blame onto Sonny now that you have the money?”

*L

You’re just using Sonny as an excuse to ask for more money, aren’t you?”

Seriousness was evident in Liberty’s eyes.

She raised her hand and slapped Hank across the cheek.

Smack!

A bright handprint appeared on Hank’s face.

“Are you even human, Hank?”

Liberty pointed a finger at Hank’s nose, shouting, “You don’t even feel sorry that your son was beaten up by your nephew. Not only did you fail to stand up for Sonny, but you also made cynical remarks when my sister sought justice for him. You’re lower than scum!”

Jessica attempted to push Liberty away and shouted, “You fat cow! Who do you think you are to touch my man?”

Liberty retaliated by shoving Jessica aside and slapping her as well. She smirked and said, “He’s the husband of a fat cow like me, as long as we aren’t divorced. Who do you think you are?”

Jessica felt the urge to hit back.

“Jessica.”

Hank stepped in front of Jessica to protect her and asked Liberty, “Why were you waiting for us here?”

Liberty responded in an equally cold tone, “We need to talk. Come with me.”

She then turned on her heel and walked away.

As she happened to spot her sister’s car, Liberty paused briefly but then continued on her way to her bike.

Her sister had enough trouble over the past two days because of her, so Liberty decided not to bother her today.

Chapter 509 “Do you really think we would be fine if Serenity’s husband were connected to the wealthiest Yorks?
