He seems to be busy with work. You know that only elites can join York Corporation, and work can get hectic. I believe her husband is in upper management, so his job likely consumes much of his time.”

“Serenity’s expression begins to soften when she speaks of him. I think they’re developing feelings for each other.”

Elisa hadn’t paid much attention to Serenity’s marriage.

Having loved before, Elisa could sense the subtle shifts in Serenity’s demeanor towards her husband.

After some reflection, Elisa added, “However, they haven’t truly become a couple yet. Their marriage is currently just a formality.”

“They entered the marriage without any feelings for each other. Everything should fall into place as they maintain their marital status while nurturing their relationship. It’s rare for a couple to be so grounded.”

Mrs. Stone was already siding with Serenity even before it was confirmed that Serenity was indeed her niece.

She believed that Serenity’s sound judgment, independence, self-reliance, and strong will mirrored her own attributes.

Meanwhile, it sounded like a car had arrived outside the shop.

<div must be serenity.>

Elisa stepped outside and spotted Serenity.

As it was still raining, Elisa stood at the entrance, smiling as she watched Serenity exit the car and approach under an umbrella.

“I apologize for keeping you waiting, Elisa.”

Serenity felt cheerful after resolving things with Zachary and preventing him from repeating past mistakes. She couldn’t help but smile as she returned to Elisa’s beaming face.

She shook the raindrops off her umbrella at the door and set it aside before entering the shop with Elisa.

“The temperature really dropped today,” Elisa remarked. “I don’t feel cold, though.”

Even though her outfit didn’t seem thick, it was warm enough.

“Serenity, this is my mom,” Elisa said, introducing her mother to Serenity.

Serenity and Mrs. Stone exchanged glances.

Despite her emotional turmoil, Mrs. Stone composed herself and smiled kindly. “You must be Seren. Elisa often tells me about you.”

“Hello, Mrs. Stone,” Serenity said politely, keeping her emotions in check. I’ll get you a glass of water,” Serenity offered.

Mrs. Stone quickly replied, “You don’t need to, Seren. Elisa and I have been in your shop for a while. I already got a drink here.”

Mrs. Stone glanced at the packed breakfast and insulated cup on the cash register, her eyes filled with sorrow.

“I see you haven’t had breakfast yet, Seren. Please have something to eat before we talk,” she suggested. “No matter what, you should always eat on time. Don’t let yourself go hungry.”

Some people would likely be having their lunch by now.

Mrs. Stone felt concerned that Serenity had not yet eaten breakfast.

Elisa chimed in, “Serenity, just take my advice. I didn’t eat my meals on time back then, and it didn’t benefit my health. It took me a while to recover. Now, my mom makes sure to drag me out of bed for breakfast between seven and eight o’clock in the morning, even if I go to sleep at three.”

Mrs. Stone shot her a disapproving look. “You’re one to talk.”

Elisa playfully stuck out her tongue. “I have no shame.
