Serenity woke up at her usual time.

As she opened her eyes, she was greeted by a clear view of Zachary’s handsome face. She found herself momentarily dazed until the events of the previous night flooded her mind. Sitting up, she attempted to tiptoe out of the room.

After some contemplation, she glanced back at Zachary and gently nudged him. Lost in dreamland, he was likely exhausted from the coffee he consumed to get through yesterday. Since he had taken the day off work, it was understandable that he would want to sleep in.

Although Serenity hesitated to disturb Zachary, she realized that her actions could be considered harassment.

With his striking face so close, she couldn’t resist stealing a few kisses. She murmured to herself, “You have a better-looking face than I do. I would have been more forward if you didn’t always wear that serious expression. I need to toughen up before I can get cozy with you.”

After a few kisses, Serenity remembered the task at hand. His bedroom was off-limits to her, and she was there for a purpose. While Zachary slept, she needed to find the contract and dispose of it.

If she didn’t, she would always feel that the odds were stacked against her after he inadvertently destroyed her copy of the contract.

With that in mind, Serenity quietly searched his room for the contract while Zachary remained in a deep sleep. She was careful not to make any noise that might wake him.

Unfortunately, despite her efforts, including checking under the bed, she could not find Zachary’s written agreement.

There was a safe in the room that she couldn’t open.

“Could it be in the safe?” Serenity whispered. It was just a contract, yet he had locked it away.

She was correct in her assumption that he kept the contract secured.

After her unproductive search, Serenity took her pillow and quietly slipped out while it was still early and everyone was asleep. She returned to her bedroom and pretended to have spent the entire night in bed with Grandma May.

Nana had stopped snoring.

However, dawn had already broken.

After changing her clothes, she brushed her teeth and got ready to head out just as Grandma May woke up.

“Good morning, Nana.”

Grandma May smiled back. “Morning. Are you going out?” “Yes, I’m going to the market for groceries.”

“I’ll come with you.”

“Alright, I’ll wait for you.”

Grandma May quickly got out of bed. Ten minutes later, she didn’t come out alone; she was joined by Mrs. Lane, and the three of them made their way to the market together.

As they went downstairs, they encountered Jim.

Jim’s instinct was to dash towards the greenery, but remembering he was disguised as a designated driver, he suppressed the urge to leap into a bush.

Serenity smiled at Jim and said, “Morning.”

Jim replied, “Morning. Are you going grocery shopping?”

“Yes.”

Jim smiled and left the conversation at that.

Serenity didn’t pursue the discussion further and walked towards her car. She unlocked the vehicle and let Grandma May and Mrs. Lane in before driving them to the market.

Casually, Grandma May asked, “Do you know that man from earlier? Is he a neighbor?” “He lives in the neighborhood, but I’m not sure which building. I see him often, so I assume he lives nearby. Zachary always hires him when he needs a designated driver after a night out. That’s how I got to know him.”

Jim was quick-witted and could think on his feet, crafting a convincing story.

Grandma May decided to inform the head of the security department about Jim and recommended he receive a raise.

Chapter 423 Rain poured throughout the night, finally ceasing at dawn.
