I can\u2019t get a wink of sleep.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>Zachary walked over to her room and opened the door to peek inside. Sure enough, he heard his nana\u2019s loud snores, clearly indicating she was faking it. Quietly shutting the door, Zachary turned back to Serenity and asked, \u201cHow do you plan to sleep?\u201d<\/div>\n<div>\u201cI was going to sleep with Mrs. Lane, but she\u2019s fast asleep. I couldn\u2019t wake her, and her door is locked from the inside. I can\u2019t get in. I guess my only option is the sofa.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>Zachary went to pour himself a glass of water.<\/div>\n<div>He noticed a pillow and a coat on the sofa.<\/div>\n<div>\u201cIt\u2019s pretty chilly tonight, especially with the rain. I can\u2019t sleep with my feet exposed, so I was going to grab a pair of socks from my room. Zachary, we should buy a few duvets and a bed for the other guest room tomorrow.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>When they first moved in together, everything was separated. It never occurred to them to get a bed for the guest rooms. After Mrs. Lane arrived, Serenity bought a bed and wardrobe for her, but the other guest room remained empty. This left the lady of the house without a warm bed for the night.<\/div>\n<div>\u201cDon\u2019t you have water in your room?\u201d<\/div>\n<div>Serenity asked casually. She had seen inside his room when she assisted him with his wash; he had everything he needed.<\/div>\n<div>Zachary maintained a calm tone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYeah, but it\u2019s not safe to drink.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOh,\u201d Serenity replied. <\/p>\n<p>She moved to sit on the sofa, observing Zachary as he poured a glass of water and headed back to his bedroom. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cZachary,\u201d she called out. <\/p>\n<p>Stopping at his bedroom door, Zachary turned to her, his dark eyes locked onto hers. His thin lips pressed together as he waited for her to continue. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cUm\u2026 Do you have an extra duvet in your room?\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cUm\u2026 Could you remove your bed linen for me to use for the night?\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Serenity responded, \u201c\u2026are you even a man? Can\u2019t you see that your wife has nowhere to sleep or a blanket to cover her?\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Zachary approached her. <\/p>\n<p>After placing his glass on the coffee table, he turned back and placed his hands on her sides. His towering figure loomed over her, making him seem intimidating without even touching Serenity. <\/p>\n<p>The dip in the collar of his dressing gown drew Serenity\u2019s eyes as he leaned closer. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can\u2019t determine if I\u2019m a man just by looking. You need to try out the merchandise first to be sure,\u201d he teased. <\/p>\n<p>Serenity tore her gaze away from his chest and met his eyes for a moment before letting out an awkward laugh. \u201cGod knows what I say in the heat of the moment.
