She refuses to assist.”

This was not a promise Hank could guarantee.

Since the incident of domestic violence, the couple had not reconciled.

Now that Hank had Jessica, his primary focus was on keeping his lover satisfied, while the woman at home was no longer a priority.

Liberty seemed to have found her voice. She used to give in easily, but now she stood her ground.

Their marriage had reached an impasse.

Though they lived under the same roof, they slept in separate rooms.

They each pursued their own lives and spoke only about their child.

“Why can’t she assist with this small issue? I’m not asking her to do it for free; I’m offering her a thousand dollars a month. Given that she has no other income, that should mean a lot to her.”

Chelsea wouldn’t have contributed a dime if she hadn’t escalated the conflict between her brother and his wife, thereby increasing the tension in their relationship.

“I was even willing to give her an additional thousand and five hundred dollars for living expenses, but she still refused to cooperate. Transferring the title deed is not a problem. You’re my sister, and we share the same mother. I trust you. I purchased the house before marriage, and I continue to pay the monthly mortgage.”

“Liberty handled the renovation costs. She has no say if I decide to transfer the house to your name.”

Of course, Liberty insisted that Hank repay her for the renovations before he could transfer ownership.

Hank had already informed his sister that he would not be transferring the house to her. She could forget about him returning even a dime. She was welcome to remove the bricks from the wall if she chose to. Chelsea asked, “What’s the point of you giving me the house if there’s no one to handle school runs, cook, and tutor the kids?” Hank replied, “Why not quit your job and take care of the children at home? My brother-in-law earns a good salary and can support you financially.”

Chelsea rolled her eyes and responded, “I work for a large corporation; it would be a waste to quit my job.” Moreover, she knew she would become the next Liberty if she became a full-time housewife. Chelsea wasn’t foolish enough to give up her job. She had been with her company for many years and earned a decent salary. Her parents also contributed to household expenses, and Chelsea and her husband rarely spent much. This allowed her the freedom to buy clothes and skincare products without financial concerns.

While her husband might treat her well initially if she quit her job and stayed home without an income, she doubted it would last. Her brother was a prime example. Hank had been generous to Liberty when she first became a housewife, but what was their situation now?

“Hank, talk to Liberty tonight, and be kind about it,” Chelsea advised, lowering her voice. “I’m on your side, but honestly, you were at fault last time.
