Liberty’s reliance on Hank’s income provided the Browns with a reason to exert pressure on her.

Mrs. Brown and Chelsea waited for a while until Liberty returned with Sonny, followed closely by Serenity.

Serenity was carrying a bag of seafood she had purchased from the market.

Though Mrs. Brown and Chelsea were eager to confront Liberty upon her arrival, the sight of Serenity behind them caused them to restrain their words.

After the incident of domestic violence, Mrs. Brown and Chelsea had sought out Serenity but were forced to retreat from her fierce outburst. Since that day, they had been unsettled by Serenity’s presence.

“Sonny.”

Mrs. Brown quickly donned a cheerful expression as she approached to lift Sonny from his stroller.

“Oh, Sonny. You have such chubby cheeks, perfect for squeezing, unlike my son, who has become thinner.”

Sonny swatted his aunt’s hand away, as her pinch had been too hard for comfort.

Before Liberty could respond, Mrs. Brown chastised her daughter, “It’s not kind to call a child fat. Sonny isn’t chubby; he’s just right.”

Mrs. Brown believed that Lucas was larger.

“Ah, Serenity’s here too,” Mrs. Brown greeted Serenity politely, as if she had just noticed her presence.

Serenity replied softly, “Yeah. With her parents assisting her in running the household, she could easily visit her brother’s place to satisfy any cravings she had.

Only a family as unique as the Browns could raise a daughter like Chelsea.

She eagerly opened the bag to take a look. “Why are the shrimp so small? The crabs are tiny! You should have gotten an Alaskan King Crab or something. You can’t get much from these little crabs,” she exclaimed.

She loved the meat found in crab claws, but only the larger crabs had the plump flesh in their pincers.

As she opened the front door, Liberty replied, “Hank only gave me three hundred dollars for the seafood, and seafood is expensive. What can you buy for three hundred bucks?”

Chelsea retorted, “Remember, you’re going halves on everything? Hank gave you three hundred dollars, so you need to chip in another three hundred from your own pocket. Six hundred dollars should be enough to get better quality and larger seafood.”

After opening the door, Liberty took her son from her mother-in-law and glanced at her sister-in-law. She replied flatly, “Hank should be responsible for paying for his family’s groceries and meals.
