She showered her son with kisses on his cheeks until he was giggling with delight.

“Liberty,” Zachary greeted his sister-in-law.

“Huh? Where did these cats and a dog come from? They’re so adorable!”

After kissing her son, Liberty noticed the new pets in the shop.

“Zachary gave them to me. By the way, Liberty, did you find a job?” Serenity hadn’t seen her sister-in-law so happy in quite a while.

Liberty first complimented the pets Zachary had brought before responding to her sister, “I got a job! It was unexpected. I didn’t think I would run into someone I know. Seren, do you know where I’ll be working?”

“It’s Lewis & Co.”

Serenity didn’t keep up with the major corporations in town. The only one she recognized was York Corporation, the most prominent company in the city, mainly because her best friend constantly talked about the heir. After marrying Zachary, who worked at York Corporation, she became more familiar with it.

She remembered Stone Group because of Elisa, but she didn’t track the names of other major corporations.

Serenity preferred to focus on things that directly affected her, like selling her crafts online, rather than on unrelated matters.

Upon hearing that Liberty would be working at Lewis & Co., she smiled and asked, “Is Lewis & Co. a big deal, Liberty? Did you reconnect with an old colleague who switched jobs to work there?”

Liberty was over the moon about landing a job. Since there was no need to hide the truth from her sister, she explained what had happened.

The story made Serenity upset. Certainly,

Liberty felt burdened, but the Chaplin lady lacked the class to avoid fat-shaming her sister. If it weren’t for Mr. Lewis, her sister would have been thrown out of the building.

“I was also at fault, Serenity. I was too direct and upset Ms. Chaplin by calling her out. That’s all in the past now. I’ve secured a job and will be working alongside Ms. Chaplin. Let’s not dwell on old grievances.”

“Besides, we’ve already apologized to each other. I can’t believe Mr. Lewis is the CEO of Lewis & Co. Thank you, Zachary. I think Mr. Lewis only offered me this opportunity because of you.”

Liberty picked up on the hint.

Although she had met Duncan twice, it was never under pleasant circumstances. His luxury sedans always seemed to end up at the repair shop whenever they crossed paths. Duncan would likely have kicked her out if not for Zachary.

Zachary replied quietly, “I didn’t do anything, Liberty. You earned your place in the company. Mr. Lewis may be a client of mine, but he’s a man of principles. He wouldn’t have hired you if you weren’t capable.”

Nevertheless, Liberty expressed her gratitude to Zachary numerous times.

Serenity’s attention was fixed on her husband.

When Zachary noticed her gaze and their eyes met, there seemed to be something unspoken in his expression.

Unlike her sister, Serenity didn’t repeatedly thank Zachary, even though she knew her sister likely got the job due to him. She planned to wait until they were home alone at night to show her appreciation.

She needed to think of a way to repay him for facilitating her sister’s job opportunity.

“Liberty, Zachary, come have lunch. You need to get back to work later, Zachary.”

Serenity urged everyone to start lunch while she entered the room.

In the kitchen, Zachary quietly followed behind her. While she addressed him by his name when her sister was present, Serenity reverted to a more formal tone in his absence.

“Mr. York, I don’t need your help here,” she said, glancing back to see her husband trailing behind.

Tension marked his facial features. Just as he mentally complained about her formal address, she confirmed his grievance.

“I came to wash my hands,” Zachary replied, his voice gruff with a hint of frustration. However, Serenity was accustomed to his tone and failed to notice any displeasure. He quickly made his way to the sink and turned on the tap to wash his hands.

Chapter 307 “You’re here too, Zachary.” Seeing her brother-in-law, Liberty smiled and lifted her son.
