The name on the building was Lewis & Co., after all.

Zachary had mentioned that Mr. Lewis was a significant client of his company, but it never occurred to Liberty that Duncan was the CEO of Lewis & Co.

Having been in the workforce while Lewis & Co. was gaining prominence, she was aware of the company’s reputation. However, she had never made the connection between Duncan and the CEO title at Lewis & Co.

“Mr. Lewis, I don’t want to cause a scene. I came for an interview, but your interviewer claimed my demeanor does not align with the company’s image. When I inquired further, she told me it was because I’m too fat. She fat-shamed me. I was furious and confronted her about it, and in response, she called me a fat cow and told me to leave.”

“Lewis & Co. is one of the largest companies in Wiltspoon. I always believed your employees would exhibit some class. I’m surprised to find otherwise.”

“Mr. Lewis, I…”

Ms. Chaplin stepped forward to provide an explanation, but she fell silent under Duncan’s intense gaze.

Duncan turned to Liberty and asked, “What position were you applying for?”

“Finance clerk. I have an impressive background, having worked as a finance director previously.”

Duncan took her resume and replied, “Give me a moment. I’ll get back to you shortly.”

Then he addressed his client apologetically, “Mr. Daniels, I need to attend to something. Would you mind waiting for me at my VIP reception?”

Duncan signaled to the secretary to escort Mr. Daniels upstairs.

He exited the office building and pulled out his phone to call his best friend. Once his friend answered, Duncan muttered, “Zachary, I encountered your…”

Zachary’s sister-in-law had an interview at his company and ended up having a confrontation with the interviewer, nearly getting escorted out by security.

Zachary was at a loss for words; he imagined she must be feeling quite upset. “What position was she interviewing for?” he inquired.

“An administrative clerk role in the finance department. She was previously a finance director, so she certainly has the experience,” Duncan replied.

“That’s a waste of her talent. Just do what you think is best. You can hire her if you believe she’s qualified, but don’t feel obligated to give her a job because of me,” Zachary said.

“Of course. I hire based on talent, not connections. I just wanted to keep you in the loop. By the way, why do I keep running into your sister-in-law? I still haven’t gotten a new car. I should visit the dealership this afternoon and opt for something more affordable,” Duncan added.

Duncan was clearly rattled by Liberty, and to Zachary, it felt as though fate was conspiring to keep them together.

Listening to Duncan’s dramatic recounting, Zachary smiled and said, “Don’t be so dramatic. Even if she joins your company, she’ll just be a clerk. You’re the CEO; it’s not like you’ll see each other all the time.”

“I doubt that. I have a feeling the exact opposite will happen. Life has a funny way of working out,” Duncan replied.

“Try to make sense of the argument. If it’s not her fault, get your interviewer to apologize,” Zachary suggested, demonstrating his protective nature.

Duncan grinned, “With a brother-in-law like you, I wouldn’t let your sister-in-law feel wronged. Alright, I know how to handle this. Want to grab lunch together?”

“I have a wife. I’m going home to have lunch with her,” Zachary responded.

Duncan retorted, “So what if you have a wife? I challenge you to bring her to every social event!”

events.”

Zachary responded by hanging up on him.

“That man and his ego. All he does is flaunt his marriage in front of us single guys. He even kept his marriage a secret. I can only consider him a real man when he makes his marriage public.”

With his best friend hanging up on him, Duncan vented his frustrations.

A little while later, Duncan returned to the office building and confronted Ms. Chaplin with a serious expression, saying, “There’s no need to interview anyone else. We’ll hire her. She has the experience. And please

apologize to Ms. Hunt! Since this is your first offense, I’ll

deduct a month’s bonus. You can expect a pink slip if I catch you doing this again. Don’t tarnish the company’s reputation.”

Chapter 303 “Is this your company?” After shaking off her initial shock, Liberty had no doubt that this was Duncan’s […]

[20

post-12055","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-married-at-first-sight
["GET
