I want to lose weight!”

Liberty was not getting fit to save her marriage; she wanted to improve her appearance and enhance her job prospects in the future.

“Okay.”

Serenity had advised her sister to stay active before her weight became unmanageable.

“Seren.”

Suddenly, Liberty wrapped her arms around her sister and began to cry—no, she was sobbing uncontrollably.

She was struggling internally!

All the years she had devoted to her relationship had led to this moment. Liberty would be lying if she said it wasn’t consuming her from the inside out.

She could only maintain a brave face so that her son would not see her tears.

As Serenity held her sister tightly, she too couldn’t hold back her own tears.

A

It felt like fifteen years ago when she first learned about her parents’ tragic accident. Liberty had come to pick her up from school to take her home. Serenity had barely stepped out of the school gate when her sister enveloped her in a hug and broke down. Serenity had no idea what was happening at that moment.

Her sister revealed that their parents were gone.

Serenity’s mind went blank, and then the world began to spin. When she finally regained her senses, she found herself gazing at her sister’s tear-streaked face. She wiped her own cheeks, only to realize she was crying too.

“Liberty.”

Serenity embraced her sister and choked on her sobs. “Let it out, Liberty. You’ll feel better once you’ve released it all.”

The sisters had worked hard to reach this point in their lives. They believed they could finally achieve stability, but fate had different plans for Liberty.

“How could he do this to me? We’ve known each other for twelve years and have been in love for ten. He used to be so good to me. He had always been there…

During our darkest moments, he encouraged and supported me, assuring me that he would always have my back.

“He has already forgotten his vows just three years into our marriage. Is it my fault for not taking care of myself, for neglecting my needs after giving birth, and for having nothing in common to discuss after quitting my job?”

“It’s not your fault, Liberty. Don’t shoulder all the blame. It’s not your fault.”

Serenity comforted her sister, saying, “It’s his fault. Now that he has money, he’s started seeking out other women. That’s what many men do. When they have money, they often stray. It’s not your fault, Liberty. If you feel guilty, the only mistake you made was falling in love with him and trusting his nonsense.”

“I want to pretend that I don’t care, but I’m hurting. Seren, he may have become a two-timing bastard, but I can’t act like nothing happened. I’m not as strong as you think.”

“I understand, Liberty. You’ve known him for twelve years and have been in a relationship for ten. How can you just let go?”

People develop a strong bond with a dog after raising it for ten years; it’s even harder with lovers and married couples.

Liberty cried a bit longer, releasing her pain before feeling somewhat better. When Serenity noticed that Liberty’s tears had stopped, she reached for a tissue to wipe her sister’s face.

“I’m going to splash some water on my face before Sonny sees me crying later.” Liberty headed to the bathroom to wash her face before returning.

By the time she sat behind the cash register, she had composed herself. Liberty said, “Seren, if you take anything from my experience, it should be to care for yourself and treat yourself well. Don’t end up like me, stuffing food into my body and becoming a fat cow for my child. My husband…

“You can’t even stand me,” Liberty said. “A cheater will cheat, regardless of how you look. If Hank truly cared about you, he would accept any changes to your body. He would honor his marital vows despite your appearance.” In the end, it became clear that Hank was not genuinely invested in Liberty.

Not many of the women men cheat with are more attractive or have better figures than their wives. It was only a matter of time before Hank had an affair, and it happened quickly because her sister had not been maintaining her fitness.

“Zachary mentioned that he has a friend who specializes in gathering information. He’ll ask his friend to find evidence of Hank’s infidelity.”

Chapter 290 “Seren, starting tomorrow, you can just pick up Sonny while I jog to your shop.
