They continued their leisurely walks.

L

.

Before long, Mr. Zachary was calling out to his wife.

Stopping in her tracks, Serenity turned to face Zachary. With the car keys in hand, he said to her, “I’ll come along.”

His sister-in-law had bravely fought back against Hank’s abuse. Liberty was a force to be reckoned with.

She was not one to back down or endure suffering quietly.

LL

How could Liberty tolerate her husband’s infidelity?

The couple might end up in another physical confrontation.

Zachary understood that Hank could not harm Serenity, as she practiced self-defense. However, she needed a man by her side because Hank and the Browns would not hesitate to act arrogantly.

He was her husband and her supporter.

Zachary hoped for an opportunity to prove himself.

He reached out to take the lunchboxes from Serenity, grasping her hand with his free hand to guide her to his car. “I’ll drive you to the shop later, too.”

Serenity no longer resisted his company. She planned to cook him breakfast at her sister’s place later so that Zachary wouldn’t go to work hungry.

“I overheard your phone conversation with your sister last night.”

Zachary chose not to mention that he had asked Josh to investigate proof of Hank’s infidelity earlier.

He refrained from bringing up the fact that he had encountered Hank and his lover at the hotel, as the couple was currently giving each other the silent treatment. Furthermore, Zachary had not seen Hank with his own eyes; his bodyguard had.

She shared her thoughts with him. Serenity fell silent for a moment before saying, “Last night, Shawn attended a business party at the Wiltspoon Hotel and saw my brother-in-law getting cozy with a young, beautiful woman. She must be his lover. Hank… that bastard is having an affair!”

“I couldn’t keep this from my sister, so I told her. It’s not something I should remain silent about. Hank and his family are already mistreating my sister, and things are only getting worse. My sister is heartbroken. Why should I lie to her when he’s cheating on her?”

Keeping the affair a secret would ultimately harm her sister the most. Serenity preferred that her sister confront this situation sooner rather than later. She would rather her sister experience the pain now than spend the rest of her life in silent suffering.

There are plenty of fish in the sea. Her sister would still have a future without Hank in the picture. Even if she had no intention of remarrying after the divorce, she wouldn’t have to endure her in-laws’ criticisms and insults anymore. Liberty would be free from her husband’s passive-aggressive attacks, and she would regain her independence.

Of course, Serenity hoped that her sister would find her footing and confidence to be self-sufficient once separated from Hank. It would be even better if she could discover new happiness along the way.

Zachary, keeping his eyes on the road, listened to her vent and replied, “You did the right thing.”

The worry in Serenity’s tone suggested she feared she might have made a mistake. She didn’t want her sister to resent her for this decision. With Zachary’s moral support, Serenity felt reassured about her choice.

“But you should ask your sister what she plans to do next. Is she going to forgive Hank if he cuts ties with his mistress? Does she still want the marriage to work?”

Zachary was unfamiliar with the topic of marriage, yet he had heard tales of wives discovering their husbands’ infidelities. These men would plead for forgiveness in tears, vowing never to see their mistresses again, and some wives chose to give them another chance.

He suggested to Serenity that it would be wise to consult Liberty for her perspective on the situation.

While divorce was one option, Liberty needed to explore ways to salvage her marriage if she was not prepared to take that step.

Chapter 286 Serenity had just made her way downstairs when she heard her man’s cries.
