It\u2019s actually a great time for a seaside holiday. It won\u2019t be too cold, nor too hot.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>Serenity rubbed her stomach. \u201cWe can discuss this later. I can\u2019t be sure I won\u2019t have other plans that weekend.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>Zachary simply hummed in response.<\/div>\n<div>While he cleared the table and took the dishes into the kitchen to wash, his formidable wife reminded him, \u201cDon\u2019t use too much dishwashing liquid and create a sink full of bubbles.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>Zachary maintained a serious expression and did not reply.<\/div>\n<div>After ten minutes, he finished washing the dishes.<\/div>\n<div>Having checked the fridge earlier, he knew there were various fruits inside.<\/div>\n<div>He washed a fruit plate, selected some of each type of fruit, and rinsed them before cutting them into pieces and arranging them on the plate. After adding a few toothpicks, he exited the kitchen with the fruit plate.<\/div>\n<div>\u201cHere, have some fruit.\u201d<\/div>\n<div>He placed the fruit plate on the counter.<\/div>\n<div>Serenity was momentarily speechless. \u201cAre you trying to make me so full I\u2019ll burst?\u201d<\/div>\n<div>Zachary gently poked her forehead. \u201cDon\u2019t you know that a walk can help with digestion?\u201d<\/div>\n<div>The entrance to Wiltspoon School was quite spacious, with a long double-lane road beside it, adjacent to a large river. If she walked a lap along the road, which bordered the riverside, she would be able to ease her discomfort.<\/p>\n<p>Serenity was taken aback by his sudden intimate gesture and instinctively raised her hand to swat it away, but he withdrew his hand before she could make contact. She ended up smacking the air instead. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe should go out for a walk soon,\u201d he suggested. <\/p>\n<p>Serenity sat up straight and asked, \u201cDon\u2019t you have a business engagement tonight?\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was one scheduled, but Nana insisted I come over to eat with you, so I had to cancel it.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Feeling embarrassed, Serenity replied, \u201cI didn\u2019t ask Nana to do that, you know?\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Her relationship with Grandma May was strong; she had married him largely due to her influence. Concerned that Zachary might think she was manipulating Grandma May, Serenity felt the need to clarify. <\/p>\n<p>Zachary looked at her with his keen, dark eyes and said gently, \u201cI know that wasn\u2019t your intention.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Nana was giving him an out. <\/p>\n<p>Serenity glanced at the clock and noted it was just past seven. \u201cIt\u2019s still early. What time was your business meeting originally? You can still go if you want.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Zachary fell silent. <\/p>\n<p>The moment he stopped speaking, tension creased his features, making him appear particularly serious and cold. His thin lips pressed together tightly, resembling a clam. <\/p>\n<p>There is a saying that men with thin lips are ungrateful. <\/p>\n<p>Whether or not he would prove to be ungrateful, Serenity couldn\u2019t say, but she knew he was cold-hearted and unfriendly toward younger women. <\/p>\n<p>If it hadn\u2019t been for her chance encounter with Nana, where she had helped her and earned her gratitude, and if Zachary weren\u2019t so devoted to his grandmother, he would have likely treated her much worse. <\/p>\n<p>In fact, he might not have even married her in the first place. <\/p>\n<p>Zachary met Serenity\u2019s gaze, and the two exchanged looks.<\/p>\n<div>\u201cSerenity, do you really dislike being alone with me that much?\u201d<\/div>\n<div>When Zachary asked this, his tone was low, and his gaze toward Serenity carried a dangerous glint.<\/div>\n<div>\u201cDo you enjoy being alone with me?\u201d Serenity countered.<\/div>\n<div>Once again, Zachary was silent.<\/div>\n<div>His silence provided Serenity with her answer. She didn\u2019t mind either way, so she pulled out her phone to watch videos. \u201cMr. York, if you\u2019re busy, feel free to attend to your work.
