The wealthiest individuals she knew were Jasmine and Shawn, with Shawn being an heir to a prosperous family. Given that Serenity and the heir of the richest family inhabited different worlds, it was unlikely their paths would ever cross.

Shawn smiled quietly. While he never looked down on Serenity, he was aware that other privileged individuals might view her differently. He understood that wealth and social status often overshadowed everything else among the elite.

Despite Shawn’s attempts to connect with seasoned professionals at the dinner party, he received only lukewarm reactions. “The truck’s here,” he announced as a vehicle pulled up. A man stepped out and greeted him with a respectful “Sir.” At that moment, Serenity realized that Shawn had summoned his family’s chauffeur.

The driver had borrowed a pickup truck and, alongside Shawn, began loading Serenity’s e-bike onto it. “It’s getting late, Serenity. I doubt any repair shops are still open at this hour.

Don’t worry; Bryan will take your bike to a workshop tomorrow and return it to you in perfect condition.” “Thank you so much,” Serenity replied sincerely. She realized that if she hadn’t run into Shawn, she might have had to push the bike home under the cover of darkness. Shawn smiled warmly. “What are friends for? Hop in, Serenity. I’ll drive you home.”

“Are you still staying at your sister’s place?” he inquired. “No, I’ve moved to Brynfield now. I’m really fortunate you were here tonight, or I would have had to walk home.”

While pushing her bike, Serenity was puzzled. The battery was fully charged, yet the bike had unexpectedly stopped functioning. She suspected a short circuit. Climbing into Shawn’s car, she appreciated his company. Shawn was already aware of the recent changes in Serenity’s marital status.

Although Serenity’s husband carried the last name York, he bore no connection to the affluent York family. It seemed that Serenity was now living with him. Shawn refrained from prying into the details of her relationship. As they drove towards Brynfield, Shawn casually asked, “How about dinner, Serenity? My treat.”

With a smile, Serenity replied, “I only enjoy dinner on rare occasions. It’s getting late, and you have work tomorrow. I don’t want to take up more of your time.” That was her way of saying no, and Shawn respected that. He understood Serenity well enough to know that pushing the issue would only make her uncomfortable.

When they reached the entrance of Brynfield, Serenity asked Shawn to stop the car. “I can walk from here.” Although Shawn wanted to accompany her to her building to get a better sense of where she lived, he knew that accessing a gated community like Brynfield could be tricky.

Regrettably, he had to abandon that idea, but he could always ask Jasmine for Serenity’s address later. “Thank you for tonight, Shawn,” Serenity said, expressing her gratitude again. “It was no trouble at all. You’ve thanked me enough already. If you really want to show your appreciation, you could treat me to dinner,” he joked.

Serenity chuckled and replied, “Absolutely! I’ll take you and Jasmine out for dinner.” Shawn pursed his lips, playfully protesting, “Can’t it just be the two of us?”

“We can do that, but are you okay with Jasmine nagging you?” Serenity teased, and Shawn silently agreed with a smirk.

After waving goodbye, Serenity tapped her card to enter the neighborhood. Shawn waited until she was out of sight before rolling up the window and starting the car. Serenity made her way to her home, pulling out her keys to unlock the door. It didn’t…

It took her a while to understand that the door was securely locked from the inside. Did Zachary think she had returned and decided to lock it when he got home? Now, she found herself wondering what her next steps should be.

Chapter 55 “Even if Mr. York is just an ordinary man, he’s not the type to associate with someone like […]

[20

post-11707","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-married-at-first-sight
["GET
