With a playful grin, he asked, “Nana, are you pulling a fast one on Zachary?” Grandma York, casting him a sideways glance, replied softly, “One more question, and you’re next.”

This effectively silenced Callum.

While Callum felt a twinge of sympathy for Zachary, he knew it was wiser to steer clear of the situation for his own safety. Better Zachary deal with it than him.

Grandma May was like a child trapped in the body of an adult. Embracing her inner youth, she was on a mission to set her grandchildren up.

Meanwhile, Serenity was closing the shop when she took her best friend’s helmet and put it on. She grabbed the keys and declared, “I’ll handle it.”

In the back, Jasmine wrapped her arms around Serenity’s waist and joked, “If only you were a man, Serenity. I’d marry you right now, and that would get my mom off my back.”

“Just hold still! Keep your hands to yourself, or I might just toss you off this bike,” Serenity warned before starting the engine.

Although Serenity frequently passed by Beans and Cream, she had never stopped in for a coffee since it wasn’t her preference; she was more of a rose or chamomile tea person.

At Beans and Cream, a gentleman was already waiting. Dressed impeccably in a suit with a red-and-white-striped tie and holding a bouquet of roses, he stood at the entrance, perhaps hoping to make a good impression.

Jasmine approached him, with Serenity following closely behind.

“Are you Mr. Bill?” she asked. Mr. Bill looked Jasmine and Serenity up and down, unsure of who his date for the evening was. He had been given a photograph of her, and while he could tell the girl was attractive, her face was a blur in his memory. He had been instructed to wait by the door with roses so Ms. Sox could easily spot him.

“Are you Ms. Sox?” he inquired.

“Yes, I am,” Serenity replied. Mr. Bill then ushered the girls inside.

was a pleasant evening, and Mr. Bill had reserved a table by the window to enjoy a lovely view of the city. As he settled in, he couldn’t help but steal a few glances at Serenity. During their brief introduction, Jasmine had mentioned that Serenity was married, which was unfortunate for Mr. Bill, who found himself captivated by Serenity’s graceful allure. For a moment, he even imagined that she might be his date, only to be reminded that she was already committed.

Jasmine had only joined them because she was tired of her mother’s constant nagging and her aunt had orchestrated the whole date. She should have shown some gratitude for her aunt’s efforts, but it was clear that the chemistry between Jasmine and Mr. Bill was lacking. As the conversation progressed, Jasmine felt increasingly turned off by Mr. Bill. He worked at Stone Group as a manager and prided himself on being part of the business elite. Although he recognized the Soxes’ wealth, he dismissed their success as merely a product of the booming property market.

In fact, Mr. Bill looked down upon Jasmine. He displayed his sense of superiority by even suggesting that they might go halves on expenses after marriage. At that moment, Serenity, sitting nearby, kicked her best friend under the table, signaling her disapproval of Mr. Bill’s attitude.

“I need to go to the washroom, Mr. Bill,” Jasmine said, cutting off his self-important monologue. She stood up and excused herself, eager to escape the conversation. Once in the restroom, she called her aunt to vent about the dreadful date before reaching out to her mom. Jasmine expressed her frustration, saying she would consider entering a convent if it meant she wouldn’t have to endure another blind date with someone like Tom, Dick, or Harry.

Mr. Bill was acting all high and mighty simply because he worked at Stone Group, but Jasmine knew he wasn’t the CEO. For all she knew, the actual CEO might not be nearly as arrogant. Meanwhile, Serenity, not a fan of Mr. Bill’s demeanor either, gazed out the window, choosing to ignore him while her best friend was away.

It was during Zachary’s visit to the coffee house that everything changed. He had a routine of scanning his surroundings whenever he entered a new place. Little did he know that this time, he would stumble upon his wife sharing a coffee with another man.

The unsettling thought crossed his mind: was she cheating on him? Was Serenity eager to find someone better, feeling trapped by their contract? It seemed possible that she wasn’t willing to wait for their divorce.

Just as Zachary prepared to confront her, Jasmine returned from the restroom. Jasmine exchanged a few words with the man before guiding Serenity away, leaving Zachary in a whirlwind of confusion and concern.

Chapter 45 “What do you know?” Grandma May had her reasons for everything she did.
