Zachary and Serenity merely shared a living space, each leading their own separate lives. Even though Zachary was furious with her, Serenity remained unconcerned as long as he didn\u2019t kick her out.<\/div>\n
After washing the dishes and tidying up the kitchen, Serenity mopped the entire house. Finally, she settled onto her recent acquisition\u2014the balcony swing\u2014and relished the cool night breeze dancing through her hair. This was the life.<\/div>\n
Moreover, the balcony resembled a quaint garden. As she admired the thriving greenery, Serenity couldn\u2019t help but appreciate Zachary\u2019s remarkable ability to get things done. The sound of footsteps approached, and soon Zachary appeared on the balcony. The sight of Serenity swinging contentedly only deepened the scowl on his face.<\/div>\n
He stepped closer and handed her two sheets of paper.<\/div>\n
\u201cWhat\u2019s this?\u201d Serenity inquired, intrigued.<\/div>\n
Though Zachary remained silent, his message was clear: she would understand upon examining the papers.<\/div>\n
Taking the documents, Serenity began to read through the contract outlined on the sheets. Zachary had printed two copies so that they could each have one.<\/div>\n
His signature and personal seal were already affixed to the documents.<\/div>\n
Tch. What was this? Making it official?<\/div>\n
Balancing on her tiptoes, Serenity pushed off and let the swing carry her. Leaning back against the chair, she continued to read every line of the contract.<\/div>\n
The terms and conditions spanned the entire page.<\/div>\n
Serenity focused on the key points. She was not to pursue any physical intimacy since they were essentially strangers, only husband and wife in name. In short, they would sleep in separate rooms and refrain from any marital obligations.<\/div>\n

Should Serenity and Zachary find themselves unable to develop feelings for each other within six months, they would move forward with a friendly divorce. Zachary was prepared to transfer ownership of the house and national MPV to Serenity as part of the divorce settlement.<\/p>\n

This was essentially the extent of what Serenity could expect from the divorce proceedings. Zachary made it clear that Serenity should not anticipate gaining access to Nana\u2019s assets.<\/p>\n

In addition to receiving the house and car after the separation, the overall terms were not particularly favorable for Serenity. Zachary had taken significant precautions to safeguard his wealth and personal integrity from any claims Serenity might make.<\/p>\n

Zachary bluntly stated, \u201cSerenity, while we may be married, it\u2019s certainly not out of love. I believe we should formalize our agreement in writing. Don\u2019t worry, anything not specified in the contract will remain unchanged.\u201d <\/p>\n

Essentially, this meant that Serenity should not develop romantic feelings for him, expect intimacy, or lay claim to Nana\u2019s assets.<\/p>\n

Surprisingly, Serenity felt no resentment. In fact, she completely understood his need to protect himself. She replied, \u201cI have no intention of claiming Nana\u2019s belongings. I am fully capable of taking care of myself and have no need to rely on anyone elderly.\u201d<\/p>\n

To Serenity, Nana was a retiree living modestly on a pension of about two to three thousand dollars a month. Even if Nana received some financial support from her family, her savings were likely limited. Serenity believed that Nana didn\u2019t possess more than she herself did.<\/p>\n

The idea of taking what rightfully belonged to someone else never occurred to Serenity.<\/p>\n

The quick marriage to Zachary was meant to put an end to the ongoing conflicts between Liberty and Hank. It was also a way to reassure Liberty that Serenity was in good hands. Before obtaining the marriage license, Serenity had asked Zachary if he would like to split the expenses. Sharing the costs could significantly ease the tension between them.<\/p>\n

Couples like Liberty and Hank have tied the knot out of love, while Serenity and Zachary find that dividing responsibilities suits them best. <\/p>\n

Serenity took a moment to admire Zachary, scanning him from head to toe before offering a compliment. \u201cMr. York, it seems you\u2019re truly blessed by God with that handsome face and impressive physique. Some may find your unapproachable demeanor captivating, while others might be tempted to win your heart.\u201d <\/p>\n

In response, Zachary\u2019s eyes reflected a deep, unsettling gloom. <\/p>\n

But Serenity quickly shifted her tone, her voice filled with cheer. \u201cHowever, not everyone will be drawn to you. Don\u2019t fret, I won\u2019t fall for you, nor am I interested in anything intimate, Mr. York. I have nothing to add to your contract. Just hand me a pen so I can sign; I\u2019ll leave my fingerprint as my seal since I don\u2019t have a rubber stamp.\u201d <\/p>\n

Zachary had braced himself for a significant outburst when he drafted the contract, so he was surprised by Serenity\u2019s reaction. Instead of being offended, she even praised him for making a wise choice. After a moment of silence, he handed her a pen.<\/p>\n
