\u201cI\u2019m planning a trip back to my hometown after meeting your parents this weekend. I want to cut down some bamboo to make the rails,\u201d Serenity said enthusiastically.<\/div>\n
Zachary responded softly, \u201cThere\u2019s no need for that. I\u2019ll arrange for someone to install the rails tomorrow.\u201d<\/div>\n
It was quite a task for the lady of the York house to go all the way to her hometown just to chop down bamboo for laundry purposes. Only Serenity could think of something like this.<\/div>\n
\u201cAlright, thanks for that,\u201d she replied.<\/div>\n
\u201cThis place is also my home now,\u201d Zachary added.<\/div>\n
\u201cYes,\u201d Serenity acknowledged before heading to her bedroom with her laundry. She opened her bedroom door and paused to look back at Zachary. \u201cIf you\u2019d like, you can leave your dirty clothes out after your shower. I can wash them when I do my laundry.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s alright, thank you. I\u2019ll have two washing machines delivered tomorrow. It\u2019ll be convenient to have one in each of our bathrooms,\u201d he replied.<\/div>\n
\u201cSounds good. Just let me know how much you spend on the washing machines. I\u2019ll share the cost with you,\u201d Serenity insisted, feeling it wasn\u2019t fair for him to cover the expense entirely, especially since he had already given her a debit card for household costs.<\/div>\n
Zachary reassured her, \u201cTwo washing machines won\u2019t be too expensive. I can manage a few thousand dollars. Besides, they are essential appliances for our home.\u201d<\/div>\n
To clarify, he added, \u201cI\u2019m usually busy with work, which is why I send my clothes to the dry cleaners. That\u2019s the reason I haven\u2019t purchased a washing machine.\u201d<\/div>\n
This wasn\u2019t about his inability to manage a household; it was simply that Zachary had never considered many everyday needs. For the last thirty years, he had enjoyed the life of an heir without thinking too much about such matters. Nevertheless, he was committed to doing whatever he could on his own.<\/div>\n
However, when it came to laundry, he was still getting the hang of things.<\/div>\n

\u201cGot it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Serenity recognized that highly skilled professionals often got caught up in their busy lives, leaving little time to consider their daily needs.<\/p>\n

\u201cGet some early rest, Mr. York.\u201d<\/p>\n

With that, Serenity retreated to her room, securely shutting and locking the door behind her.<\/p>\n

The sound of the door locking cast a shadow over Zachary\u2019s eyes. He felt as though she was putting up a barrier against him. However, he soon acknowledged that they were on equal footing; he too locked his bedroom door and closed the window every night while he slept.<\/p>\n

In a way, they had established a solid system together.<\/p>\n

Serenity asserted her boundaries, while Zachary did the same. They respected one another\u2019s space, allowing each other the freedom to breathe.<\/p>\n

Importantly, Serenity never anticipated him to fulfill his part of their marital obligations.<\/p>\n

A moment later, Zachary pulled out his phone to call Sam, the butler. Once Sam answered, Zachary solemnly instructed, \u201cSam, arrange for two washing machines to be delivered to Brynfield. You can choose the brand, but please don\u2019t go for anything too expensive or too cheap.\u201d Sam respectfully acknowledged the request.<\/p>\n

After ending the call, Zachary stared at the closed door for a moment before getting up and returning to his room.<\/p>\n

The night passed in silence.<\/p>\n

The next morning, at six o\u2019clock, Zachary was jolted awake by a phone call.<\/p>\n

He glanced at his phone screen; it was Serenity calling. Although he felt a twinge of annoyance, he decided to answer her call.<\/p>\n

\u201cAre you awake, Mr. York? We agreed to pick up flowers at the florist at six.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m up,\u201d he replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll wait for you. Please hurry.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSure.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since he had promised to take her there the day before, Zachary quickly got out of bed, dressed, freshened up, and stepped out the door, even though he was still feeling groggy.<\/p>\n

Outside, Serenity was waiting with a purse in hand.<\/p>\n

She had her phone, keys, and the debit card that Zachary had given her. Later, she planned to visit the ATM to check her account balance. It was important for her to stick to her budget and make purchases that were within her means.<\/p>\n
