He’s a fraud!”

Barbara shouted back, her voice full of anger, “I don’t care what you decide, but you better bring Anthony to Eastcliff on my 84th birthday to check on me and treat my old ailments. If you don’t, just wait and see what happens!”

People tended to become more selfish as they aged.

The older they got, the more they feared death, clinging to life for as long as possible. Barbara was indifferent to the quarrel between Kenneth and Anthony; all she wanted was for Anthony to remain her personal physician.

With Anthony by her side, she felt she could easily live past ninety, but without him, she worried she wouldn’t even survive the year.

Kenneth felt crushed by his mother’s harsh accusations. He longed to explain his side and voice his grievances, but Barbara was not interested in hearing any excuses. She laid down her demands and abruptly ended the call.

Frustrated, Kenneth released his pent-up anger by smashing furniture and breaking items in the room. Finally, he grabbed his phone, hoping to call Anthony, seeking forgiveness and pleading for him to continue treating his mother.

Unfortunately, Anthony’s phone was turned off.

This only deepened Kenneth’s frustration.

Yet, he dared not defy his mother’s wishes, so he quickly dressed, left the house, and drove to Anthony’s clinic.

Upon arriving, he found the clinic’s door firmly closed.

Kenneth clenched his jaw in irritation when, out of the corner of his eye, he spotted two figures emerging from a dark alley nearby.

One of them was limping and looked vaguely familiar.

Kenneth swiftly hid around the corner to get a better look. As they approached, he saw it was a man in his fifties accompanied by a young man in his twenties.

The young man was leaning on a crutch with one hand while holding a large green gasoline drum in the other.

The middle-aged man, slightly balding, was supporting the limping youth with one arm while carrying another green gasoline drum in his other hand.

Kenneth recognized the young man as Jason Grant, the one who had been thrown out of the clinic earlier that day while seeking treatment from Anthony.

It appeared they were plotting to set Anthony’s clinic ablaze since he had refused to help!

Jason Grant was the same individual who had crossed paths with Charlie in the hospital and had been forcefully ejected by Don Albert.

The incident had left him with broken legs, resulting in his limp. He harbored a deep resentment for Charlie, and after being turned away by Anthony, he intended to find a way to settle the score.

After complaining to his father, Justin Grant, in frustration, they had purchased two gasoline barrels with the intention of burning down Anthony’s clinic.

Their plan was to ignite the Serene World Clinic as a lesson for Anthony, and then devise a way to exact revenge on Charlie.

At that moment, Kenneth overheard Jason asking Justin, “Dad, do you think the old coot lives in the clinic?”

“How should I know?” Justin replied coldly. “Besides, who cares? If he is inside, he deserves to burn! How dare he treat you this way! Damn it!”

Jason cursed in frustration, “This is ridiculous! The old coot won’t even help me! Burning him alive is too lenient a lesson for him!”

Kenneth trembled in disbelief at his mother’s fierce outburst.
