Did you really marry that Ser- girl?”

Zachary shot him a disapproving look.

Callum, scratching his nose, straightened up and decided to drop the subject.

Despite this, Callum felt nothing but sympathy for Zachary.

The York family didn’t need to secure their social or financial status through marriage, yet Zack and his new wife were far from a perfect match. Poor Zack had only tied the knot because Nana had taken a liking to her.

Once again, Callum mentally expressed his condolences for Zachary.

Thankfully, Callum was not the eldest in the family; otherwise, he would have been expected to marry Nana’s chosen companion.

Meanwhile, Serenity was completely oblivious to these family dynamics. She had received the details for her new location and was busy hauling her suitcase toward her new home.

Upon opening the door, she stepped into a spacious residence that was larger and more lavishly decorated than her sister’s house.

After placing her suitcase down, Serenity began to explore the space. This was her home now.

The house featured two living areas, four bedrooms, a kitchen, two bathrooms, and two balconies, all with ample room. Serenity estimated the total area to be at least two thousand square feet.

While the place was sparsely furnished, it included a sofa set with a coffee table and a wine chiller in the living room. Out of the four bedrooms, two were equipped with beds and wardrobes, while the other two remained empty.

The master bedroom boasted en-suite facilities, including a walk-in closet, a study, and a bathroom. Despite the division of space, the master bedroom felt exceptionally spacious.

to reality, it’s a different story.”

Serenity nodded in agreement, recalling the tension she had witnessed.

“Anyway, I found a place,” she added, trying to sound upbeat. “It has a nice living hall and a bright room. I think I’ll really like it there.”

Jasmine’s eyes lit up with curiosity. “Oh wow, tell me more! What’s it like?”

“It’s got this lovely balcony that lets in a lot of sunlight, especially in the bedroom where I’m staying. It feels cozy, and I can already imagine decorating it with some plants and a swing. Just the thought of reading a book there makes me happy.”

“That sounds amazing! But what about Zachary? How does he feel about you moving in?”

“Well, he doesn’t seem to be home much, especially for dinner. So, I thought it was high time I brought some home-cooked meals into the mix. I ordered some kitchen utensils online, and when he’s back from work, I want to discuss adding furniture and plants to the balcony. After all, it’s his house, and I’m just a guest for now.”

Jasmine raised an eyebrow, sensing Serenity’s hesitation. “Are you sure about this? I mean, living together can change things.”

Serenity sighed, knowing her friend was right. “I know, but until he asks me to embrace this married life, I’m going to take it slow. For now, I just want to make it feel like home.”

With that, they continued chatting as the shop filled with customers, both friends sharing laughter and support amid the busy atmosphere.

Let’s get straight to the point: it often feels like women are the ones who are constantly being criticized and blamed. After marriage, we find ourselves prioritizing family above everything else, all while navigating through misunderstandings with a smile. It just doesn’t seem fair. I truly believe your sister should look for a job! It’s essential for women to maintain financial independence so that we can have a voice in our households.

As Jasmine spoke, she suddenly knitted her brows and looked at Serenity with confusion. “I can’t believe your sister allowed you to move out.”

“I got married,” Serenity replied.

“Oh… What? You got married? But you don’t even have a boyfriend! Who did you marry?” Jasmine’s mindless nodding was replaced with shock as she stared at Serenity with wide eyes, her voice rising in pitch.

Realizing there was no way to keep this under wraps, Serenity decided to share the whole story with Jasmine.

Jasmine glared at Serenity for a moment before poking her forehead. “I really don’t understand how you found the courage to marry someone you met just once. You could’ve stayed with me if you needed a place to live. I have extra rooms! You could have even considered my cousin if you were looking for a husband.”

Chapter 5 With determination in his eyes, Zachary stated, “Let’s get back to the meeting.” Closest to Zachary was his […]

[20

post-11657","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-married-at-first-sight
["GET
