RISUNA
I’ve been going through my clothes looking for something to wear. I’m going on a date. Mlunghisi asked me to go out with him,just the two of us. But I told him that it would have to be around here and he agreed. Now I’m left with the work of getting an outfit. I have a lot of clothes,I just don’t know what to wear.
I take a couple of dresses out and put them on the bed. I have a lot of them but I don’t wear them a lot. Everything here is so beautiful but I don’t know what to choose.
My door opens and my sister wallks in. She stops and looks at my bed andd shakes her head. She sits bext to me and picks one dress.
“Mlunghisi asked me on a date.” I tell her.
“That date has to be around here. I don’t approve of this but if it makes you happy then go for it.”
“Why don’t you approve?”
“A lot. You cannot date someone from a place where they hate you. What will his parents say about that? You’re Hlungwani’s granddaughter. Once his parents find out they will hate you. This relationship is doomed to fail. Even if you say he doesn’t care what anyone says it will fail. We are talking about his family. If they don’t support this it will not work. Yoou being with this guy will ruin his relationship with his parents. “
“His mother is nice. She has no problem with me.”
“And his father? And let’s not forget the way you two met.”
“His father actually hates me. Let’s forget about how we met. The time I’ve spent with him showed me that he’s a good person. He’s not his father.”
“Okay,but promise me that if it gets hard you will end this relationship. We don’t want to lose you. I think you should wear this dress. “
“Thank you.” I take the dress and change into it. It’s nothing fancy. It’s not a formal date. Bit I still look good.
“If I don’t come back by 5pm look for me at the park. First we’ll go to get something to eat then go to the park.”
“Why are you going on this date if you’re scared of something happening?”
“Nothing will happen. I just want to be careful. That’s all. I know Mlunghisi will not do anything to me.”
After getting ready I leave. I walk to the fast food place. He said he will wait there then we’ll go on our date. I’ve only been on a date once. My friend had planned that date. The guy told her that he like me and she told me. We tried getting to know each other,then went on a date. After that date nothing came. That’s where it snded. I think it was because of me. I didn’t want to date during my varsity years. I promised my parents good marks and i felt like a relationship was going to get in the way. So I ended it before it went anywhere. So I can say that this is the first date I agreed to go on because I wanted to.
As the fast food place comes into view Mlunghisi cones to me. He meets me halfway then hugs me.
“You’re so beautiful. “
“Thank you. You look good.” He smiles then holds my hand and we walk to the restaurant.
“How are you?” He looks at me. He looks worried. Did something happen that made him this worried?
“I’m fine. What’s wrong? You don’t want to go on this date again?” I ask him.
He smiles but I can see that this smile was forced. I stop walking and look at him.
“You’re scaring me.”
“I don’t want to scare you, but when you appeared I saw someone behind you. That’s why I came to you.” I look behind me and there’s no one.
“When that person saw me he returned and went the way he came from. I’m sorry. “
“I am going back home.” I can’t go on this date anymore. What if this person has been following me for some time? I was looking forward to this date but I can’t risk with my life like that.
“Wait. I will walk you home. We don’t know if that person is really gone or not.”
He walks me home and I’m just quiet and looking around. I feel like that person is hiding not far from where we are. I increase my pace. When we get home I thank Mlunghisi for walking me hone.
“I’m sorry our date got ruined before it could even begin. What matters is that that person failed to do whatever they wanted to do.”
“It’s okay. It was not your fault. ” I hug him.
“I will call you. ” He kisses my cheek and walks away.
MLUNGHISI
Just when I’m making progress with risuna this happens. Just when we are close someone tries to ruin it. But I won’t let it get to me. I’m this close to leaving home. It won’t be long judging by all these things happening.
I was thinking of talking to my father when I got here. But it looks like he is not around. I don’t know if he’s gone just for today or what. Bit it would make me happy if he’d be gone for the whole day. That would make me really happy.
“Oh,you’re back. How was your date?”
“What date? Your father did all he could to ruin it. He sent someone to follow Risuna.”
“Are you sure it’s him?” He’s still asking while he knows the answer to that?
“Obviously. I wonder what he was trying to do. To kill Risuna just like he tried to k*ll me?”
“You can’t say that. Dad never tried to k*ll you. I know you hate him but you can’t say such about him. “
“The day you find out the truth about your dad you will see why I don’t like him. Where’s he?”
“He went to visit his siblings. He’ll be gone the whole week. ” Great news. I don’t like fights. And when he’s not home there won’t be fights. We’ll live peacefully.
I sit down and call Risuna to let her know that I got home safe.
“Hey,I just got home. How are you now?”
“I’m fine. Just scared about what happened today.”
“I’m sorry about that. There is something I would like to ask you.”
“Oh,what is it?”
“Will you please ask your dad if I can have a meeting with him and my uncle?”
“Is something wrong?”
“No. It’s nothing bad. You will find out when I get there.”
“Okay. I will talk to him and get back to you. “
“Thank you. I love you. ” I end the call.
“I firsee trouble here. Does she feel the same about you? And,does dad know about this meeting?”
“No and you sre not going to tell him. This doesn’t co cern him.”
I’m doing this my own way. Since my dad is against me wanting to pursue a relationship with Risuna then my uncle will help.
