Wings of Broken Time by Alina Das 8

Wings of Broken Time by Alina Das 8 Summary

Honora has been deeply upset since discovering she is not the biological daughter of the family she grew up with. She spent the night crying and barely ate breakfast, prompting Vivica to stay by her side for comfort. When Larissa arrives, she mockingly questions the preparations made for her, showing resentment and hostility, especially when Vivica tries to take her hand and show her the room prepared for her.

Larissa’s attention quickly shifts to Honora, whom she sees as a rival. Honora is visibly shaken, clutching the sleeve of Leopold, who reassures her and introduces himself as Larissa’s brother and Honora as his sister. Larissa coldly taunts Leopold for considering Honora his real sister, revealing that Honora is the adopted child who was swapped with her at birth. This revelation stuns everyone and deepens the tension.

Leopold defends Honora fiercely, insisting she is innocent and had no part in her mother’s actions. He comforts Honora, who is overwhelmed with tears and guilt. Larissa, however, remains bitter and scornful, accusing Honora of living a privileged life that rightfully belonged to her, while Larissa herself suffered abandonment and near death as a baby.

The chapter ends with Larissa’s harsh declaration of betrayal and injustice, highlighting the emotional rift and conflict between the two young women over their true identities and the circumstances of their upbringing.

Chapter 8

Of course, that was a lie. The truth was that Honora had been devastated since learning she wasn’t their biological daughter. She had cried all night and had barely eaten breakfast this morning Vivica’s heart had ached for her, and she’d decided to stay and comfort her.

“So what preparations did you make for me?” Larissa asked, her tone laced with mockery.

“I had your room prepared,” Vivica said quickly. “Come, I’ll show you.”

She reached for Larissa’s hand again.

Larissa dodged her again. “Oh, so preparing a room was more important than picking me up.”

Vivica’s hand met empty air for the second time, and a flash of irritation crossed her eyes. Would this never end?

“There’s no need to see the room. I might not even be staying,” Larissa said, pointing at the young woman her age. “Who is she?”

The young woman flinched, her eyes immediately welling with tears as she clutched the sleeve of the young man beside her.

He took her hand reassuringly. “It’s okay, Honora.” After calming her, he turned a cold gaze on Larissa. “I’m your brother, Leopold. And she is my sister, Honora.”

He deliberately emphasized the words ‘my sister.”

“Oh,” Larissa said, drawing out the sound. “So she’s your sister. Does that mean she’s the adopted one I was swapped with?”

Honora’s hand trembled, and a tear finally escaped, tracing a path down her cheek.

Leopold’s face darkened.

“In my heart, Honora is my real sister!” he said, his voice sharp.

Larissa laughed coldly. “If you see her as your real sister, then you’re a real idiot.”

A stunned silence fell over the room.

Leopold stared at her in disbelief. “Did you just call me an idiot?”

“Yes, I did,” Larissa sneered. “Was I wrong? Or did you not know that it was her mother who secretly swapped us?”

The fake heiress’s name was Honora. Her birth mother, Calista Lester, had worked as a client service representative at a maternity center. She had met Vivica, who had been scouting luxury centers since she was three months pregnant. Calista, who was pregnant at the same time, saw an opportunity. She followed Vivica’s choice, scraped together the money, and booked a room at the same center. During their stay, she had managed to switch the babies without anyone noticing. It just so happened that Honora had a rash on her face at the time, so Vivica never suspected a thing She had gone home with the wrong baby.

Honora bit her lip, the tears now flowing freely. “I’m sorry…“.

Leopold squeezed her cold hand.

“Honora, this has nothing to do with you,” he soothed, then turned to glare at Larissa. “Yes, it was Honora’s mother who switched you! But Honora is innocent! She knew nothing about what her

mother did!”

Larissa let out a sharp laugh, her eyes full of scorn. “Oh, she’s so innocent! So innocently enjoying twenty years of a luxurious life that should have been mine, while I, the real heiress, was thrown in a dumpster in the dead of winter. If someone hadn’t found me, I would have died before I was even a day old.”
