Wings of Broken Time by Alina Das 32
Wings of Broken Time by Alina Das 32 Summary
Larissa confronts her family about the harsh insults and accusations made against her, particularly the claim that her adoptive parents only took her in for inheritance purposes. She suspects that Uncle Paxton and Aunt Vivica influenced these hurtful ideas. Paxton responds with a threatening glare, causing Larissa to seek comfort in Sapphira’s arms. Sapphira firmly supports Larissa, accusing the adopted daughter of provoking Larissa with cruel remarks and revealing a disturbing claim that Larissa was brought back to replace Honora in marrying Haskell.
Kiernan, Larissa’s grandfather, demands the truth and is met with silence from Vivica, while Paxton denies the accusation. Honora admits to making the claim out of desperation, wanting to stay but feeling rejected by Larissa. Kiernan sternly reprimands Paxton and Vivica, insisting they discipline their adopted children and warning them not to bring petty disputes to him without facts.
Despite the tension, Kiernan orders an apology to Larissa from all involved. While Honora, Vivica, and Paxton apologize sincerely, Leopold initially refuses but eventually mutters a reluctant apology under pressure. Larissa accepts their apologies but makes it clear she wants to sever all ties permanently by signing papers to end their relationship, signaling a decisive and final break after the painful confrontation.
Larissa put her phone away. “Grandpa, it’s one thing for her to insult me, but she also claimed my parents only adopted me for the inheritance. I suspect that’s an idea Uncle Paxton and Aunt Vivica put in her head.”
At this, Paxton’s eyes narrowed into a deadly glare aimed straight at Larissa.
“Don’t look at me like that, Uncle Paxton. You’re scaring me,” Larissa said, shrinking back into Sapphira’s arms.
Sapphira hugged her tightly, her voice colder than ever. “The situation is perfectly clear. Your adopted daughter provoked Larissa and said a number of cruel things.”
Neville looked at Honora with disgust. “Sapphira and I took Larissa in because we love her, not for any inheritance.”
Sapphira pressed on. “And another thing. Your adopted daughter said you brought Larissa back to marry Haskell in her place. Is that true?”
She hadn’t planned to expose this in front of Kiernan, but after this ugly confrontation, even if Larissa was willing to go through with it, she wouldn’t let her be a silent victim.
“Is this true?” Kiernan’s face was terrifyingly dark.
Vivica stayed silent.
Paxton, however, denied it. “Of course not. We had only just learned Larissa was our daughter. How could we have planned for her to marry Haskell in Honora’s place?”
“Then why would Honora say that?” Sapphira challenged.
Honora gritted her teeth and took the blame. “It was me. I wanted to stay, but Larissa wouldn’t accept me and wanted to drive me out. I said it in a moment of desperation.”
Hearing this, Kiernan turned his stern gaze back to Paxton and Vivica. “You two are the ones who need to properly discipline your adopted daughter! And in the future, don’t bother me with these petty squabbles unless you have your facts straight!”
“Yes, Dad,” Paxton said, nodding. “I’ll have a stern talk with both Honora and Leopold.”
Vivica was seething with resentment.
How could she have known her biological daughter was so cunning? Who would have thought to
record a conversation like that?
Larissa finally emerged from Sapphira’s embrace.
“This isn’t over yet, is it?” she said to Kiernan. “Grandpa, Uncle Paxton and Aunt Vivica stormed into my home making accusations. It was quite frightening.”
“The four of you,” Kiernan commanded, “will apologize to Larissa. Now.”
“Grandpa, even if we were wrong first, she shouldn’t have resorted to violence!” Leopold protested. “Why should we apologize? I refuse!”

Chapter 32
Kiernan raised his cane, threatening to strike him. “You dare defy me?”
Vivica quickly intervened, then turned to her son. “Leopold, don’t anger your grandpa. Apologize to
Larissa.”
Larissa crossed her arms. “Go on, I’m waiting. You too, Uncle Paxton and Aunt Vivica.”
Honora was the first to speak. “Larissa… I’m sorry.”
Vivica, having placated Kiernan, followed suit. “Larissa, I’m sorry. I misunderstood.”
Paxton swallowed his pride and muttered a stiff, “I’m sorry.”
Only Leopold remained defiant, turning his head away and mumbling a reluctant, “Sorry.”
Larissa adopted a magnanimous air. “Since you’ve apologized, I won’t make things difficult. Now, as we agreed, with this matter settled, I want to sign the papers to sever our relationship. Permanently.”
