Wings of Broken Time by Alina Das 30 Summary
Honora is tearful and distressed as she insists she never intended to insult Larissa. She explains that she had just finished her German lesson when she saw Larissa outside and approached her with kindness, hoping to help her with music or painting. However, Larissa misinterpreted Honora’s intentions, thinking she was being looked down upon, and slapped her without warning. Honora swears she meant no offense.
Vivica comforts Honora, expressing her belief in her daughter’s innocence and chastising Neville and Sapphira for failing to control Honora on her first day. She calls Kiernan to seek justice, demanding an explanation for the injuries to Leopold and Honora. Vivica urges her son Leopold and Honora to speak up about what resolution they want, promising that Kiernan will ensure justice.
Honora quietly asks for an apology from Larissa. Leopold supports this, requesting that Larissa apologize and sign an agreement allowing Honora to remain in the Judson family. Larissa reacts with scorn, refusing to apologize and accusing Leopold of being disgusting. She then declares she wants to sever all biological ties with her birth family, asking Kiernan to witness an agreement that would permanently end their relationship.
The tension escalates as Leopold mocks Larissa’s threat to cut ties, and Vivica warns her about the irrevocability of such a decision. Larissa defiantly replies that only a dog would regret it and then plays a recording on her phone, hinting that it will explain why she hit Leopold and Honora. Honora’s face pales as she braces herself to listen.
Tears welled in Honora’s eyes as she shook her head.
“I truly didn’t insult Larissa. This morning, I had just finished my German lesson at the Haven Loft when I saw her standing outside. I thought she might be interested in learning music or painting, sol went over to say hello. I genuinely wanted to help her.”
She paused, stubbornly wiping a tear from her eye.
“But somehow, Larissa thought I was looking down on her and showing off. Without another word, she slapped me.”
“I swear on my life,” she choked out, “I never meant to insult her.”
Vivica stroked Honora’s tear–streaked face. “My sweet girl, don’t cry. Of course Mom believes you. You’ve always been so good and obedient. I raised you myself. How could you ever be the person Larissa is describing?”
After comforting Honora, she turned on the others. “You see? I told you this girl from the country would be wild and hard to manage. Neville, Sapphira, since you’ve adopted her, you need to control her. How could you let her cause this much trouble on her first day?”
She then turned to Kiernan, her voice thick with grievance. “Dad, I called you here to seek justice. You’ve heard what happened. All I want is for Neville and Sapphira to give me an explanation:
Leopold and Honora can’t be injured for nothing.”
Kiernan’s face was grim. “What do you want?”
Vivica quickly prompted her son. “Leopold, you and Honora tell him. What will it take to resolve this? Don’t be afraid to speak up. Your grandpa will ensure you get justice today.”
Honora looked at Larissa through tear–filled eyes and whispered, “All I want is an apology from
Larissa.”
Vivica then looked at her son.
“She is a Judson, so I won’t ask for an eye for an eye,” Leopold said. “I just want her to apologize to Honora and sign an agreement promising to let Honora remain in the Judson family. Is that so much to ask, Grandpa?”
“So much?” Larissa scoffed. “Forcing me to apologize to her is the biggest insult you could offer me. Leopold, you really have a talent for being disgusting.”
She then turned to Kiernan. “Grandpa, since I’ve officially joined my new parents‘ household, I don’t want Uncle Paxton and Aunt Vivica to use our biological ties to emotionally blackmail me anymore. So, I’d like you to witness this: after we settle the matter of me hitting Leopold, I want to sign an agreement with them to permanently sever our relationship.”
Leopold sneered. “Permanently sever our relationship? Ha, do you think that’s a threat? Not having a sister like you would be a dream come true!”
Her own son had been beaten, and Vivica was done biting her tongue for the sake of a potential inheritance.

Chapter 30
“Larissa, are you sure about this? Once you sign that document, there’s no going back, no matter how much you regret it!”
“Only a dog would regret it,” Larissa shot back, then looked at Honora. “You want to know why I hit them? Just listen to this.”
Honora froze. Listen? What does she mean?
Her heart began to pound in her chest. Could it be…?
No! It can’t be!
As Honora’s face drained of color, Larissa pulled out her phone and played a recording.
“Here, have a listen.”
