The Throne of Thorns Novel Chapter 10

Wings of Broken Time by Alina Das 10

Wings of Broken Time by Alina Das 10 Summary

In Chapter 10 of “Wings of Broken Time,” Larissa confronts Vivica and Leopold with anger and resentment, accusing them of showing disgust toward her because she is not as fair-skinned or elegant as Honora. She reminds them that if they had not been switched at birth, she would have had the privileged life that Honora now enjoys, built on her own suffering. Vivica tries to explain that they just haven’t adjusted to Larissa yet, but Larissa challenges this, pointing out that her uncle and aunt, who have no children, accepted her without hesitation.

Vivica promises that from now on, Larissa will be treated equally and that no favoritism will be shown between her and Honora. However, Larissa bitterly rejects this, accusing her parents of neglecting her to raise the daughter of their enemy. Leopold joins the argument, insisting that they are not abandoning Larissa, but that she is making it impossible to live peacefully by refusing to tolerate Honora.

Larissa fiercely defends her stance, condemning Honora as the daughter of a criminal and questioning the fairness of Honora’s luxurious life despite her mother’s crimes. Leopold loses patience and challenges Larissa’s attitude, while Larissa asserts her own superiority based on her bloodline and intelligence. The tension peaks as the family faces a decision about who should stay and who should leave.

Leopold declares that he only recognizes Honora as his sister, giving her two votes in the family decision. Vivica is torn but ultimately Larissa claims that Honora will stay while she must leave. The chapter ends with a hint of panic from Honora, worried about who will marry Haskell Palmer if Larissa truly leaves.

Chapter 10

“Am I?” Larissa shot back. “Then why did you look at me with such disgust the moment you saw me? Is it because I’m not as fair–skinned and elegant as she is? Did you forget that if we hadn’t been switched, I would be the one with pale skin and a refined upbringing? Everything she has now was built on the foundation of my suffering.”

Vivica was taken aback. “We weren’t disgusted with you. We just… haven’t adjusted yet.”

“You need to ‘adjust to seeing your own daughter? Why didn’t Uncle Neville and Aunt Sapphira need to adjust?” Larissa demanded.

Vivica was speechless. “Because Neville and Sapphira are childless,” she thought bitterly. “Of course they’d be envious of my children.”

She took a deep breath, softening her tone. “My dear, we will not neglect you from now on. Your living expenses will be the same as Honora’s. Your father and I won’t show favoritism.”

“So I should thank you? Please. To me, ‘no favoritism‘ is the greatest favoritism of all! You two are truly saints, aren’t you? Disregarding your own daughter to continue raising the daughter of your enemy!”

Vivica fought to keep her composure. “Larissa, stop throwing a tantrum. You’re my daughter. Your father and I finally found you. We would never let you continue to suffer out there.”

“You know I suffered while the daughter of our enemy enjoyed the best resources you could provide. And now, before I’m even properly acknowledged, you’re ready to abandon me all over again.”

“Get it straight,” Leopold interjected. “We are not abandoning you. You’re the one making this impossible. You could stay here with us, but you refuse to tolerate Honora.”

“Of course I can’t tolerate the daughter of a criminal!” Larissa retorted. “If I hadn’t been lucky enough to survive, her mother would be a murderer on top of being a kidnapper! Her mother committed a crime, and not only does the daughter face no consequences, she gets to continue living a life of luxury? How is that fair?”

Honora staggered slightly.

Leopold caught her, his patience finally snapping. “With your coarse and brutish attitude, do you really think you deserve to stay while Honora is forced to leave?”

“Of course I do. First, I have Judson blood. Second, I’m not an idiot like you.” Having said her piece, Larissa’s patience ran out. “So, have you made your decision? Is she leaving, or am I?”

Leopold pulled Honora behind him protectively. “Dad, Mom, if I have to choose, I only recognize Honora as my sister!”

“Alright, that’s one vote!” Larissa held up a finger and looked at Vivica. “And you?”

Vivica wrung her hands. “My dear, please don’t be like this…”

“That’s two votes!” Larissa cut through her pretense and finally turned to her silent father, Paxton.. “Looks like your vote doesn’t matter. Honora already has two. So, she stays, and I go.”
