The Heart Surgeon’s Last Patient Novel Chapter 93

Night Carved Paths Into Silence by Zyrel Ash 93

Chapter 93

Annoyed, Roderick grabbed the back of Madeleine’s neck with

his large hand and pulled her around. They were so close their

noses were almost touching.

Madeleine’s gaze fell into Roderick’s eyes, and her breath

hitched.

She felt like a little white rabbit grabbed by the scruff of the

neck by a big bad wolf. She wanted to run, but was afraid she’d

get bitten if she moved, so she didn’t dare budge.

Roderick’s Adam’s apple bobbed again as his gaze drifted down

to glance at Madeleine’s lips.

“Bait?”

His voice was low and raspy, like a foxtail grass tickling the

inside of Madeleine’s ear.

Madeleine’s eyes darted around as she stammered, “Ye–yes,

just… to bait Edward.”

Roderick let out an exasperated laugh.

Chapter 93

“Why not bait me first?”

“Bait you?”

The innocent Madeleine didn’t understand what he meant, until

the desire in Roderick’s eyes grew more blatant and she finally

understood.

This “baiting” wasn’t the kind she was thinking of!

Her breathing grew hot, and the air seemed to become humid,

making all her senses feel sticky.

Madeleine’s heart was pounding so hard it felt like it would leap

out of her chest.

She felt she should instinctively resist, to push this big bad wolf

away.

But whether the big bad wolf was too skilled, or she was just

too inexperienced, she didn’t have time to push him away

before Roderick kissed her.

Compared to the last drunken kiss, this one was sober and

gentle, and the sensation it gave Madeleine was much deeper.

Roderick was very gentlemanly and careful, his lips just

brushing against hers without trying to go any further.

But even so, it was enough to make Madeleine hold her breath,

unable to move.

Roderick kissed her for a moment, then pulled back and

chuckled.

“Stunned?”

Madeleine stared blankly.

Of course I’m stunned!

The two of them, they’d kissed again!

Roderick propped an elbow on the table, resting his fist against

his temple with a sigh.

“You really have lost your memory. You don’t even know how to

breathe when you kiss.”

Instantly!

Madeleine’s previously calm face turned completely red.

She gave Roderick an annoyed push back and deliberately

wiped her lips with the back of her hand.

Chapter 93

“You’re a pervert.”

“I’m your husband, it’s legal. Go ask the cops if a husband

kissing his wife counts as being a pervert.”

Madeleine was silenced by his words, unable to say a thing.

She lifted her eyes and glanced at Roderick again. This guy

really did like her.

So, does that mean they were really in love when they got

married?

Madeleine couldn’t help but start questioning her feelings for

Roderick.

It seems…

Hmm…

I don’t mind it.

Roderick, having gotten his way, was in a good mood. He smiled and asked her about her plan to go fishing.

Madeleine distractedly explained her plan.

“What’s wrong?”

Chapter 93

After she finished, she noticed Roderick’s expression wasn’t

very pleasant.

Roderick crossed his arms, his brow slightly furrowed. “It’s a

good plan, but the thought of you talking to Edward… I don’t like

it.”

“Oh, come on. You’ve put up with it for the past few years,

what’s a little more?”

The moment she said it, Madeleine felt Roderick’s expression

grow even colder.

She quickly gave a guilty cough, stood up, and muttered, “I just

remembered I have some work to do. I’m heading back now.”

“You still have work?”

“Yeah, yeah, the two pots of cacti on the table haven’t been

watered.”

After saying that, she made a quick escape.

Roderick was speechless for a moment, then a smile spread

across his face.

Still the same familiar feeling. She was definitely the Madeleine

he’d loved since they were kids.

Just a little longer.

Wait for her to get to know me better, to understand the

changes in me over the past eight years, to understand the

feelings I’ve had for her for over twenty years.

Wait for her to fall in love with me again.

Picking up his phone, Roderick made a call. “Prepare a gown for

Chase. A matching set?

Good, that works.”

On the day of the event, Roderick took Madeleine to one of his

styling studios.

After changing into his suit, he sat on the sofa to wait, patiently

reading a magazine.

With such long limbs on display, passing employees couldn’t

help but glance over.

Once they were a little farther away, they gathered together to Gossip.

Chapter 93

“I heard the one inside is Daquan?

How come we’ve never seen her before.”

“He probably just never brought her over. I heard from people at

the corporation that the CEO and Chase are inseparable now,

they go everywhere together.”

“That’s so weird. Weren’t they said to have a bad relationship?

How come they look so in love…”
