Night Carved Paths Into Silence by Zyrel Ash 69
Chapter 69
His gaze was so complex–pain, desire, anger, restraint… all
these emotions tangled together, making Madeleine’s heart
clench.
“I just want to tell you…” She took a deep breath and rushed the
words out, “If one day I get my memory back, and I turn back
into the old Madeleine…”
Roderick’s gaze turned icy in an instant, his grip tightening
unconsciously. “So what?”
“I want you to kick me out. Preferably far away, the farther the
better.”
Madeleine looked him straight in the eye and said, word by
word, “Don’t let me keep hurting you and Kev.”
The air seemed to freeze.
Roderick’s expression shifted from shock to disbelief, and
finally to a rage bordering on despair.
He suddenly cupped the back of her head, his alcohol–tinged lips pressing down hard on hers.

Author’s Note:
Aunt Flo is here and my cramps are killing me, boohoo, but thinking about them getting to kiss tonight, I still forced myself
to finish two chapters. I desperately need some praise!

Roderick’s kiss was rough, as if he was pouring all his unspeakable pain into it.
Madeleine was startled, and then the kiss started to hurt. The
air was trapped in her chest, and she couldn’t breathe.
“Mmph…”
Madeleine struggled to push him away, but Roderick was
already strong, and now that he was drunk, it was impossible to
move him.
oderick panted, growling beside her, “Why does it always have
be what you say? Madeleine, you’re so selfish.”
“It’s not that, I…”
Roderick didn’t give Madeleine a chance to speak.
Her words were once again drowned out by a crushing kiss.
Chapter 69
It was like a rising wave, crashing over Madeleine, engulfing her
until she couldn’t breathe.
For Madeleine, with the memories of her eighteen–year–old self,
this was her first kiss.
She had no technique, no idea what to do, not even knowing
how to move her lips or tongue.
“I don’t care…” Roderick murmured against her lips, his hot
breath on her face, “Even if you get your memories back, I won’t
let go.”
It sounded like he was saying it to Madeleine, but also to
himself.
His kiss gradually softened, becoming careful and cherishing as
it moved from her lips to her earlobe.
Madeleine already felt like she couldn’t breathe, and now he
was making her whole body tremble.
“Roderick, don’t do this.”
She was scared and used all her strength to try and push him
away.
Chapter 69
But then, she realized the man on top of her had stopped
moving. All she could hear was his hot breath by her ear.
“Roderick?”
Madeleine patted his shoulder and called his name.
The only response was his long, even breathing.
He was… asleep!
?
Madeleine blinked a couple of times, and it took a moment for
her to process what had happened.
She couldn’t help but look up at the ceiling as countless
thoughts raced through her mind.
It seems like those TV dramas weren’t lying.
People really do fall asleep in the middle of a kiss…
Roderick seemed even heavier now that he was asleep, and
Madeleine couldn’t get him up to take him to a room.
Luckily, the study’s sofa was big enough. She moved the throw
pillows out of the way and laid Roderick down flat on it.
Chapter 69
“Phew…”
Just from doing all that, Madeleine was already tired and
covered in a thin layer of sweat.
Even though it was still hot during this Indian summer, the
nights always had a bit of a chill.
If he slept on the sofa just like this, Roderick would definitely
get cold.
“I’ll go get you a blanket.”
Madeleine said, propping one leg on the sofa, getting ready to
go get a blanket for Roderick.
But before she could leave, Roderick, who had been asleep with
his eyes shut, reached out and grabbed her wrist tightly.
He didn’t control his strength, and Madeleine hissed in pain.
It was hard to tell if–Roderick heard her, but his grip loosened a
little, though he never let go.
“Don’t go.”
Chapter 69
Roderick said in a low voice. It was quiet, but perfectly clear in
the silent room.
Madeleine was about to say something, but when she looked
closely, she saw the man was just talking in his sleep.
She felt a bit helpless and sat back down on the sofa, letting
him keep his grip on her wrist.
The kiss just now had happened so fast that Madeleine’s mind
was still a complete blank.
Now that she had calmed down, she finally had time to think
about what had just happened.
They had actually… really kissed.
Madeleine reached out and touched her lips. She must have
bumped them by accident; they still hurt a little.
The thought that she and Roderick had not only kissed, but had
even… had a child later on.
