The Heart Surgeon’s Last Patient Novel Chapter 63

Night Carved Paths Into Silence by Zyrel Ash 63

Madeleine sighed.

“If your marriage is unhappy, you should get a divorce and free

yourself. We’re all women here, I understand it’s not easy for

you.”

With just a few words, she had painted Dannie as a pitiful

woman whose husband was cheating, making her lash out at

others due to her unhappy family life.

In the time it took Madeleine to say that, the crowd’s gazes had

already changed.

Seeing the sympathetic looks from the people around her,

Dannie exploded with anger.

“What nonsense are you spouting!

You little bitch, you’re the one with the unhappy marriage! My

husband loves me very much, I don’t need you to run your

mouth.”

Madeleine tutted and rested her head on Roderick’s shoulder.

“Is that so?

Then why isn’t your husband here at the amusement park with

you and your son?”

Dannie was left speechless by the question. ‘

Her face instantly went pale, then red.

Coupled with the pointing and whispering from the crowd,

Dannie was mortified and yanked Austin out from behind her,

scolding him angrily.

“It’s all your fault, spouting nonsense about someone not

having a mom. Isn’t her mom right here!”

The little chubby boy’s lips trembled, and tears immediately

squeezed out of his narrow eyes.

“Boohoo, Mommy, I was telling the truth…”

“Forget it, forget it. Don’t talk nonsense in the future. Let’s go.”

Dannie knew she couldn’t out–talk the sharp young woman, so

she grabbed her son, ready to leave.

“Hold on.”

Roderick, who had been silent the whole time, suddenly spoke.

His cold aura made everyone instinctively look at him.

“You haven’t apologized to my wife and son yet.”

Dannie froze.

Her husband, Mr. Eleanor, held a high position in the business

world. Usually, people bowed to her when she went out; very

few dared to order her around like this.

Dannie was naturally indignant, but the man’s presence was

just too intimidating.

Besides, the preschool her son used to attend was an exclusive

one. While not every child there was from a wealthy family,

there were bound to be a few you couldn’t afford to offend.

Thinking about the Eleanor family’s current situation, she

decided it was better to be cautious.

Suppressing her anger, Dannie could only grit her teeth and say

to Madeleine, “Sorry, alright? Seriously, kids squabble, and the

parents get all worked up about it.”

A bystander who couldn’t watch anymore spoke up:

“But you’re the ones who bumped into them on purpose. The

young woman even got hurt protecting her child.”

“Exactly, and you called her a mistress without knowing

anything. That could be grounds for a slander lawsuit…”

Once someone spoke up, the voices of others joining in grew

louder.

Dannie couldn’t handle being scolded by so many people, so

she just shamefully held her big, chubby boy, pushed through

the crowd, and ran off.

“Phew…”

Madeleine let out a sigh of relief. When she turned her head,

she saw Roderick and Kevin squatting down together.

Both of them were frowning, their movements in sync as they

checked her leg.

Roderick: “Are you hurt?

Where does it hurt?”

Kevin: “Mommy, let me blow on it for you.”

Madeleine’s heart warmed. She quickly smiled, “I’m fine.”

A staff member came over and said that Madeleine’s family

could go to the lounge prepared by the amusement park, and a

medic would come to check on her shortly.

Madeleine wanted to refuse, but the father and son insisted, so

she had to give in and go with them.

The crowd dispersed. From a distant corner, a pair of shadowy

eyes followed Madeleine and the others as they left.

Edward narrowed his eyes, savoring the good show he had just

witnessed.

Brilliant.

So brilliant that he almost didn’t recognize that woman.

The woman who used to follow him around like a puppy, her

eyes filled with foolish hope–when did she get so smart?

Edward, what are you doing here? I came out of the restroom

and have been looking for you for ages.”

A sweet female voice sounded from behind. Upon hearing it,

Edward immediately hid the emotion in his eyes, turning around

to smile at the short–haired beauty before him.

Chapter 63

“I was thinking of getting you something to eat.”

“I don’t want any. The food here is gross and unhealthy.”

The woman spoke as she came over and linked her arm with Edward’s, whining, “The amusement park isn’t fun at all. Why’d

you suddenly think of bringing me here? Wouldn’t playing golf

be better?”

Edward didn’t say anything, an unreadable glint flashing in his

eyes.

In fact, even he couldn’t figure out why.

When he heard from that woman, Mary, that Madeleine and

Roderick had come to the amusement park together, Edward’s

first instinct was that it was impossible.
