The Heart Surgeon’s Last Patient Novel Chapter 46

Night Carved Paths Into Silence by Zyrel Ash 46

Chapter 46

Madeleine glanced down at herself. Well, it was indeed a

secretary’s outfit.

“No, Ma’am. This is my mom.”

At those words, several teachers gathered around in surprise.

Kevin’s mom? How rare!

“Oh, my apologies! I didn’t know you were Mrs. Livingston.”

The teacher hurriedly apologized, flustered.

“I’m so sorry. I thought you were Mr. Livingston’s secretary.”

Madeleine gave an awkward laugh.

Well, not entirely wrong. She was about to become Roderick’s

special assistant anyway.

“It’s alright. I used to be busy and didn’t have much time to

bring Kevin to kindergarten, so you probably didn’t recognize

me.”

Chapter 45

As she spoke, Madeleine wore a perfectly gentle smile.

Her looks were naturally striking, even slightly intimidating. As one of her old friends once said, a beauty like Madeleine rarely

got approached on the street.

Her beauty was too dazzling. Men often felt inferior just looking

at her.

Yet now, that face carried a warm and polite smile.

For a moment, several kindergarten teachers were completely

stunned.

So stunning!

No wonder she had given birth to such a lovely son like Kevin.

“By the way, yesterday I didn’t come to pick up Kev. Did you call

Dr. Clark?”

Still a bit dazed, the teacher immediately nodded.

“Oh, yes. For each child, we keep the emergency contacts.

Kevin’s were listed as Dr. Clark and Mr. Livingston.”

“Could you please change it to my number? From now on, if

anything comes up, just call me.”

Chapter 46

“Of course, no problem. You can also reach out through

WhatsApp. This way, we can update you more quickly about

how Kevin is doing at kindergarten.”

Madeleine gladly agreed, chatting with the teachers for a while

at the gate.

And as for Kevin?

He held his mommy’s hand tightly, chest puffed up, and met the

eyes of every child who passed by.

Though he said nothing, his gaze was definitely showing off, as

if saying: “Look, this is my mommy!”

When it was almost time, Madeleine handed Kevin over to the

teachers.

“Sweetheart, behave yourself at kindergarten. I’m going to work

now. We’ll see each other at home tonight.”

“Okay, Mommy.”

Kevin waved reluctantly, not wanting to let go.

After watching her walk away from a distance, he entered the

kindergarten with his backpack. Several kids immediately

crowded around him.

“Kevin, was that your elder sister? She’s so pretty.”

“No, that’s my mommy.”

“You’re lying. How could anyone have such a beautiful mother?”

At their doubt, Kevin’s little face flushed red in anger.

“It’s true! I’m not lying!”

For the entire morning, Kevin became the most popular kid in

kindergarten. Everyone surrounded him, curious about hist

gorgeous mommy.

Meanwhile, Madeleine and Roderick arrived at the company.

Since Roderick always entered from the underground parking,

he didn’t encounter colleagues on the way.

Hearing the sharp clack of Madeleine’s heels, he finally stopped

and turned.

“You sure you don’t wanna get changed?”

“Huh?”

Chapter 46

Startled, Madeleine looked down at herself.

“What’s wrong with my outfit?”

Roderick pressed his lips together.

Her outfit wasn’t wrong, exactly. It was just too eye–catching.

Unless meeting clients outside, hardly anyone in the office

would dress like that.

Especially for an administrative role, walking around in such

high heels would only be inconvenient.

After a moment of thought, Roderick shook his head.

“Nothing. Let’s go.”

She would understand these things soon enough once she

experienced them herself. There was no need to explain

everything. Too much advice would only annoy her.

To Madeleine, aside from visiting her father’s company in the

past, this was her first time being in such an environment.

The moment she stepped out of the elevator, her curious eyes

were everywhere.

Gerry was already waiting at the entrance. He guided her

around with introductions.

“This floor is mainly the CEO’s office and related departments. Other divisions are downstairs. Here are some company files.”

“Thank you.”

Hearing that, Gerry glanced at her nervously.

Since learning last night that Madeleine would be coming to

work at the company today, he hadn’t slept a wink.

He was convinced that Madeleine must be ill.

Seriously ill.

“I’ll take you to meet the secretaries in the CEO’s office. You’ll be working with them most of the time.”

“Alright.”

“This is the core area of the CEO’s office,” Gerry whispered. “Mr.

Livingston’s secretaries all work here.”

The secretaries, busy at their desks, looked up, and their

expressions shifted when they saw Madeleine behind him.

Before she could greet them, they all stood at once.

Chapter 46

“Good morning, Mrs. Livingston.”

Madeleine flushed with embarrassment, quickly waving her hands.

“Please, don’t call me that. I’m just an employee now. Just use my name.”

The secretaries smiled and nodded, but in truth, they would never dare call her by name.

Though they had never interacted with her directly before, she had quite a reputation among them.
