The Heart Surgeon’s Last Patient Novel Chapter 207

Night Carved Paths Into Silence by Zyrel Ash ` 207

Chapter 207

“Okay.”

Madeleine thought Rebecca was acting strange today. To be

precise, she’d been strange for the past few days.

On the way back, Roderick had even mentioned that he thought

Rebecca was probably in a bad mood, and they should go check

on her when they had time.

Well, now they didn’t have to. She had come to them.

Madeleine agreed and went to call Roy, asking him to get the

guest room ready.

“We’ll sleep in the guest room tonight.”

Rebecca beamed, unable to resist reaching out and pinching

Madeleine’s cheek.

“How are you so cute? Your son must get his cuteness from

you.”

Kevin was delighted to hear that, and he secretly curled his lips

into a smile.

When he looked up, he noticed his dad’s expression was getting

darker and darker.

Hmm, Dad doesn’t seem very happy.

After a bit of chatting, Madeleine still hadn’t realized the gravity

of the situation. She turned her head and was surprised to see

Roderick still there.

“Don’t you have work to do?

Why aren’t you going? You’ll end up pulling another all–nighter.”

Roderick frowned.

Rebecca leaned back and peeked over. “Exactly, work is

important. The whole company is counting on you right now.”

Roderick took a deep breath, swallowing his frustration.

He nodded and went upstairs. As soon as he got there, he sent

a text to Madeleine, asking her to bring him a glass of water.

“That guy, he really knows how to order people around.”

Rebecca pouted. “Just have Kirsten bring it up. Let’s us chat.”

“I’ll be right back. Kirsten already took Kevin to his room to

sleep.”

Madeleine chuckled and got up to get the water.

How could she not see that a certain someone was just using

the water as an excuse to see her?

Carrying the glass of water, Madeleine knocked on the study

door.

“Here’s your water!”

“Mmm, come in.”

Hearing the sound from inside, Madeleine pushed the door

open.

Just as she pushed the door open a crack, a large hand

suddenly reached out, grabbed her wrist, and pulled her inside.

Madeleine let out a small gasp. By the time she realized what

was happening, Roderick had already pinned her against the

study door.

She was so startled that she almost dropped the glass in her

hand.

Luckily, Roderick reached out and steadied it, and only a couple

of drops of water spilled out.

“What are you doing?”

Madeleine chided, looking up at him with gentle annoyance.

The more she acted like this, the more Roderick couldn’t take it.

A look like that… wasn’t she just asking to be kissed?

Roderick’s possessiveness peaked, and he said with

annoyance, “Do you really have to be with her tonight?”

Madeleine came to her senses and couldn’t help but chuckle.

“So that’s what you’re upset about. Rebecca is your good friend,

and a work partner. Are you… jealous of her?”

Madeleine couldn’t believe she’d even said it.

“Ricki, Rebecca is a girl. Why would you be jealous of a girl?”

Roderick didn’t say anything, just stared at her intently, the

undisguised love in his eyes spilling out.

He raised his hand, cupping half of Madeleine’s delicate face,

his voice so low it was barely audible.

“Yeah, why would I be jealous of her…”

His fingers moved up slowly, and Roderick’s thumb caressed

Madeleine’s lips a couple of times.

“It’s not really jealousy. It’s just, I can’t stand it when someone

else takes your time away from me.”

He had lost that love once before.

So now, he knew better than anyone how to cherish it.

Madeleine’s heart skipped a beat, and before she could react,

Roderick had already leaned in and kissed her.

Roderick moved gently, not going deep, pulling back each time

he was about to push forward.

This gentle teasing soon became too much for Madeleine to

handle.

She let out a soft sound, put the cup on the shelf beside her,

then wrapped her arms around Roderick’s neck and pulled him

in for a kiss.

She had just finished eating grapes, so the kiss had a faint

grape aroma. Roderick loved it, wishing he could devour her

right then and there.

They kissed for a good while.

“Mmm…”

Madeleine struggled and patted Roderick’s shoulder.

Roderick got the hint and pulled back.

Madeleine’s cheeks were red as she stared into his eyes, “Didn’t

you say you were thirsty and wanted water?”

“I just had some. It was grape–flavored.”

“Ricki!”

Madeleine, both shy and pleased, playfully punched him lightly

again.

“I’m not messing around with you anymore. Rebecca is still

downstairs waiting for me.”

Roderick’s good mood, which had just brightened a little.

because of the kiss, sank again.

He sighed.
