Night Carved Paths Into Silence by Zyrel Ash ` 203
Chapter 203
“I was afraid you were busy and didn’t want to bother you. Gerry
told me you haven’t been eating properly again.”
Roderick smiled. “My fault for making my wife worry.”
Just as Madeleine was about to say something, the office door
was pushed open again.
Mr. Klein walked in, dragging Jason, and looked a bit awkward
when he saw Madeleine.
“Mr. Livingston, sorry to interrupt…”
He knew this was rude, of course, but with The Klein group on
the verge of collapse, he couldn’t afford to care.
Before he could finish, Mr. Klein stood there awkwardly.
Roderick didn’t even glance at them, focusing on Madeleine.
“Have you eaten?”
“Our son and I ate a while ago. I had Kirsten make this for you.
It’s all your favorites.”
Chapter 203
Roderick pulled her to sit on the sofa, opened the box, and saw
a slightly burnt fried egg on top.
This clearly wasn’t up to Kirsten’s standard.
He turned his head in pleasant surprise. “You made this?”
“Um… I only made the fried egg. If you don’t like it, you don’t
have to eat it.”
“How could I?”
Roderick’s eyes were filled with emotion. He held Madeleine’s
hand with his left, asking worriedly if she’d been burned by the
oil.
Jason stood to the side, his face turning pale.
He stared intently at the scene before him, his fingers clenching
unconsciously.
Roderick was actually holding Madeleine’s hand?
And being so gentle with her?
What shocked him even more was the shy blush on Madeleine’s
face. How could this be the couple rumored to have a frosty
relationship?
Chapter 203
“What’s going on…” Jason whispered in disbelief. “Weren’t they
supposed to have a bad relationship?”
Mr. Klein shot his son a harsh glare and hissed, “Are you blind?”
“Does this look like a bad relationship?”
Roderick looked up, his icy gaze sweeping over them like a
knife.
Jason felt a chill run down his spine and instinctively took a half
step back.
“Mr. Klein.”
Roderick’s voice was devoid of warmth. “Your son seems quite
interested in my personal affairs?”
Mr. Klein quickly pulled his son forward. “Mr. Livingston, we
came to apologize!”
This rebellious son…”
“That won’t be necessary.”
Roderick interrupted him, his long fingers gently stroking the back of Madeleine’s hand. “My Chase is soft–hearted, but that
doesn’t mean I’ll forgive so easily.”
Chapter 203
Madeleine noticed Jason’s shocked expression and deliberately
leaned closer to Roderick.
“Honey, are you really going to eat this fried egg?
It’s all burnt…”
“Of course.”
Roderick picked up the fried egg without hesitation and took a
big bite. “This is the best fried egg I’ve ever had.”
Jason’s expression was like he’d swallowed a fly.
He remembered the flippant things he’d said to Madeleine
before.
“How much is Roderick paying you?”
“Why not consider me?”
Now his face just burned with shame.
“Mr. Livingston.”
Mr. Klein grabbed the back of Jason’s neck and forced him to
bow.
Chapter 203
“This bastard was blind to a person of great importance. You
can do whatever you want with him!”
Roderick slowly swallowed the fried egg, then looked at
Madeleine. “What do you think, honey?”
Madeleine’s attention was all on Roderick as he ate the fried
egg.
She hadn’t noticed it just now, but when Roderick picked up the
fried egg, the back of it was a big, black mess.
Hey… you can’t eat that.
I think burnt food causes cancer.
It’s all Jason’s fault!
If he hadn’t suddenly shown up and caused trouble, she could
have stopped Roderick from eating the fried egg.
Thinking this, Madeleine reached out and pressed down on the
hand Roderick was using to hold his fork.
“Don’t eat the fried egg. Eat something else.”
After she finished speaking, she looked up as if granting him a
favor, and gave Jason a glance.
Chapter 203
“How to deal with him… doesn’t that depend on his sincerity?”
Mr. Klein could see it now; the one calling the shots was
actually Mr. Livingston’s wife.
He immediately grabbed Jason and dragged him in front of
Madeleine.
“Mrs. Livingston, I am so sorry. This bastard is used to messing
around abroad, he has no filter and said things he shouldn’t
have.”
After speaking, Mr. Klein kicked the back of Jason’s knee.
Jason cried out in pain, stumbling a few steps and almost
falling to his knees.
“What are you still standing there for? Hurry up and apologize to
Mrs. Livingston!”
Jason nearly ground his teeth to dust.
Veins popped on his forehead. Apologize?
Right now, he wanted nothing more than to go up and strangle the couple.
Holding a grudge for so many years over the slap Madeleine

gave him ten years ago was one thing.
But to be humiliated like this ten years later!
He was naturally unwilling, clenching his jaw and not moving for
a long time.
