The Heart Surgeon’s Last Patient Novel Chapter 181

Night Carved Paths Into Silence by Zyrel Ash 181

Chapter 181

Isabella threw up her hands.

“You know how it is. Sometimes you can’t refuse your elders‘

requests. And I’m not the type to make things awkward. It’s not

like meeting up once will kill me.”

Bradley nodded. He believed that. From her behavior, Isabella

seemed like a very straightforward and open person.

Isabella stirred her coffee, a sly smile suddenly appearing on

her face. “But, you know, I’m starting to think this trip was

totally worth it.”

Bradley raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean?”

“I’ve found the perfect ally.”

Bradley narrowed his eyes. “Ally?”

“Yeah!”

Isabella slapped the table excitedly. “We can be each other’s

cover! You help me deal with my family, and I’ll help you win

over Charlotte. How about it?”

Chapter 181

Bradley’s expression suddenly turned wary. “Who said I was.

going to pursue her?”

“You like her, but you’re not going to pursue her? What’s up with

that?”

The light in Bradley’s eyes dimmed a little.

“She has a boyfriend. And besides, she doesn’t like me.”

“She has a boyfriend?”

Isabella scratched her head.

That’s strange. How did I not know about this?

Bradley picked up the tea on the table and downed it like a shot.

When he was done, his eyes were clear.

“Hurry up and eat. I’ll take you home when you’re done.”

Later that night.

Madeleine was panting as she lay on the bed, her whole body

still flushed a faint pink.

Chapter 181

The ends of her hair were damp, sinking into the soft down

comforter.

Roderick leaned over her, propped on his arms. He gently

brushed the stray hairs from the nape of her neck, the dark

passion in his eyes still lingering.

“Got any strength left?”

He asked in a low voice, the pads of his fingers barely grazing

her back.

Madeleine mumbled, her face buried in the pillows, “I’m spent.

No more.”

Roderick chuckled, pulling her over to turn and lean against

him.

“I was asking if you have the energy now to tell me what

happened today.”

Madeleine’s face flushed, and she ducked her head shyly.

Oh, so that’s what he meant.

“You’re awful. You did that on purpose.”

Her voice was still thick with arousal, holding no menace at all.

Chapter 181

He chuckled softly, then buried his face in the crook of her neck

and inhaled deeply.

“Yeah. On purpose.”

His warm lips pressed against her throbbing pulse. “So, what

were you really angry about?”

Madeleine moved her lips, realizing her throat was terribly dry

and hoarse.

Just now… I think I yelled a little too loud.

“I want to drink some water first.”

“Okay.”

Roderick chuckled softly and immediately got up to pour her a

glass.

After drinking the water, Madeleine finally regained some of her

strength.

She leaned on Roderick’s shoulder, rambling on about what

happened today.

“I just don’t get it, how is that Jason still so annoying?”

Chapter 181

“If I had known Hengrong Group was his family’s business, I

wouldn’t have even given it a second glance.”

“It pisses me off so much, wasting so much of my time…”

Madeleine mumbled on for a while, but Roderick never said a

word.

She looked up, puzzled.

“Ricki?”

Unfortunately, she looked up right into Roderick’s icy eyes.

He narrowed his eyes.

“When did he harass you?”

“Uh.”

Madeleine blinked a couple of times.

So out of everything I just said, the only thing Roderick heard

was that Jason harassed me?

“That was all old stuff from ten years ago. He was really

annoying back then, but luckily he went back abroad later.”

Chapter 181

Roderick lifted her chin, forcing her to meet his gaze.

“Why didn’t you tell me.”

Madeleine looked helpless, “Our relationship was pretty average back then, right? What if I told you and you just laughed at me?”

Roderick’s brow furrowed even deeper.

It seemed her misunderstanding of him ran deep.

How could he possibly laugh at her?

“How exactly did he harass you.”

He asked in a low voice, knowing the answer would upset him,

but he couldn’t help himself.

He held Madeleine close, lightly twirling a few loose strands of her hair like he was playing with his property.

Madeleine thought for a moment, “It was nothing much, just chasing me around saying he liked me, insisting I be his

girlfriend and stuff.”

Roderick’s grip on her hair tightened.

He tried his best to control his emotions.

Chapter 181

“What else?”

“He followed me everywhere I went, came to my house every day, it was so annoying. Later, I slapped him, and it felt so

satisfying.”

“Why did you slap him?”

“That bastard asked if I still had my first kiss. I couldn’t be

bothered with him, but he insisted on cornering me against a

wall, saying he was going to take my first kiss.”
