Night Carved Paths Into Silence by Zyrel Ash 176
“OK.”
Soon, the car arrived at the Hengrong Building.
Madeleine looked up at the towering glass wall. The sunlight
reflected off the building’s surface, creating a rainbow of
colors.
“The location is really good.”
Rebecca had one hand in her pocket, looking at a map on her
phone with the other.
“The surrounding amenities are all here, and it’s close to the
subway and bus stops. Most importantly…”
Rebecca looked up, giving Madeleine a teasing smile.
“It’s only a fifteen–minute drive from your husband’s company.”
Madeleine couldn’t help but laugh when she heard that.
She wasn’t sure if she’d just gotten thicker–skinned, but her first
reaction to the teasing wasn’t embarrassment anymore.
Chapter 176
“Did you schedule a meeting with the agent?”
“Yeah, he’ll be here any minute.”
Just as she said that, a man in a standard business suit came
out to greet them, eagerly asking who they were.
“Hello, ladies. I’m the leasing manager for Hengrong, Daniel
Garrison. Let me take you up to have a look.”
Madeleine nodded, her gaze shifting away from Daniel.
She couldn’t see much of a difference in the suit, so why did it
make Daniel instantly look like an agent, while on Roderick, it
gave off a completely different vibe?
On the way up, Daniel gave a brief introduction to the building’s
surroundings and amenities.
Madeleine was quite satisfied with the location. As she listened
to Daniel, she was already thinking that if it was good enough,
she should lock it down soon.
After all, this was a prime location. If she hadn’t gotten the
inside scoop early using Roderick’s connections, these two
floors would probably already be leased.
Chapter 176
Once inside, Madeleine was focused on the view outside the
glass windows, while Rebecca pulled the agent aside to talk
business.
They talked about things like utility discounts, property
management, and renovations.
Daniel laughed awkwardly, scratching the back of his neck.
Looks like this one’s an expert.
“That’s about right.”
Rebecca, having received a satisfactory answer, nodded
slightly. “If we decide to go with it, please draft the contract as
soon as possible so I can take a look.”
“No problem. It’s up to Madeleine now.”
Madeleine took the plunge.
“I’ll take it!”
Daniel let out a long sigh of relief. “In that case, please follow
me to my office, and we can discuss the supplementary
agreement in detail.”
“Okay.”
Chapter 176
As they were heading to the elevator, Rebecca glanced at the
time.
“It’s almost three. Madeleine, I have to go. Can you handle this
on your own?”
“No problem.”
Daniel also added, “The contract won’t be signed right away.
You can review it first.”
Rebecca was still a little worried. She looked at Madeleine,
wanting to say something but holding back.
She still thought of Madeleine as a child. What if she got
scammed?
It would be so pitiful if she lost her money.
Madeleine could see what she was thinking and quickly pushed
her toward the elevator.
“Don’t worry. I’ll send you the contract as soon as I get it. You
and Roderick. I won’t sign until you both give me the okay,
alright?”
“Okay.”
Chapter 176
Only then did Rebecca nod. “Call me if anything comes up.”
“I know.”
After seeing Rebecca off, Madeleine followed Daniel to his
office.
She was still a little nervous. After all, for her right now, this was
the biggest thing she had taken on in a while.
Daniel led her to a waiting area and brought her a glass of
water.
“Madeleine, please wait a moment. I’ll contact my colleagues in
the legal department, and they’ll be over to discuss the details
with you shortly.”
“Okay.”
After Daniel left, Madeleine took several sips of water to calm
her nerves.
Along with the nervousness, she couldn’t help but feel a faint
sense of anticipation.
Rebuilding the company, getting her old life back on track… one
step at a time, she could definitely do it.
Chapter 176
Daniel went to the office to follow up, but he suddenly saw
everyone from the office coming out, each one looking
panicked.
“What’s going on?”
“You don’t know? The golden child is back.”
At the end of the hallway, a few executives in sharp suits were
clustered around a young man, walking this way.
The man was wearing a deep blue velvet suit, the collar of his
shirt unbuttoned casually, revealing a long, slender neck.
He had one hand in his pocket, spinning a car key with the
other. The Patek Philippe on his wrist glinted under the lights.
“Why is this damn elevator so slow?”
He frowned, his voice tinged with impatient laziness.
Daniel’s heart skipped a beat. This was the golden child of the
Hengrong Group, Jason Klein.
