The Heart Surgeon’s Last Patient Novel Chapter 172

Night Carved Paths Into Silence by Zyrel Ash 172

“Do you think Bradley’s blind date will go well tomorrow?”

She looked up at Roderick. “You know him better. What if he

doesn’t like her and makes a scene?”

Madeleine was worrying on her mom’s behalf.

Being a matchmaker wasn’t easy. What if she failed to set them

up and just made things awkward for everyone?

Roderick had just finished the document. He closed his laptop,

lifted Madeleine up, and settled her onto his lap.

“So worried about him?”

“Just curious.”

“You’ve been a little too curious these past few days.”

Roderick’s eyes narrowed slightly as he suddenly leaned in, a

hint of seduction in his gaze.

“How come I don’t see you being this curious about me?”

Chapter 172

Madeleine didn’t have time to pull back, and her heart gave a

violent thump.

She seemed to get flustered so easily lately…

Seeing him lean in again, Madeleine quickly pressed two fingers

against Roderick’s lips.

“Stop messing around, we’re talking about something serious.”

Roderick’s eyes showed his displeasure.

This girl. It was bad enough she wouldn’t let him go all the way

with her, but for the past two days, she’d even been resisting

any form of intimacy. Could it be that the novelty of him had

worn off?

He had no idea what was on Madeleine’s mind.

For the past two days, his words kept replaying in her head-

“If this keeps up, what if I develop a problem from holding it

in…”

Just thinking about it made Madeleine tense up.

It couldn’t actually break, could it?

Chapter 172

That’s why she always stopped Roderick from getting too close,

nipping it all in the bud!

Quickly pushing Roderick away, Madeleine sat cross–legged on

the sofa next to him.

“Are you free tomorrow? How about we go watch?”

Roderick’s mind was still a mess, and he didn’t immediately

register what she wanted to watch.

“Hm?”

“Bradley’s blind date! Don’t you want to see how he does?”

Roderick thought for a moment. “I can’t get away tomorrow.”

“Ah…”

Madeleine was a bit disappointed. “Then I’ll just skip it if I’m

alone. I’m not going.”

Roderick’s brow furrowed again.

He considered it. There was a national–level event he had to

attend tomorrow; he really couldn’t get out of it.

He sighed with some resignation. “Have Rebecca go with you?”

Chapter 172

“Is she free?

She seems pretty busy lately. I’ve asked her to dinner a few

times, but she always said she didn’t have time.”

Roderick chuckled. “Just busy with nonsense.”

These days, Rebecca was running all over the place, spending

most of her time in that lab of Adrian’s.

It was hard to tell if she was the one scheming, or if she was

the one being schemed against.

Roderick took out his phone and sent Rebecca a text.

A moment later, he got an affirmative reply.

“She agreed. I’ll have her come pick you up tomorrow.”

“Yay~”

The next day, Madeleine showed up in front of Rebecca

dressed all in black, with a hat, a mask, and sunglasses, fully

equipped.

Rebecca’s mouth twitched.

Chapter 172

“When did you switch careers to become a paparazzo?”

“What paparazzo?”

Madeleine spoke, then it clicked, and she glanced down at her

outfit and raised an eyebrow.

“It’s called being cautious.”

Rebecca shook her head in confusion, entered the restaurant

and gave her name, and a waiter led them to their reserved

table.

Madeleine blinked a couple of times.

“You didn’t tell me you booked the perfect spot for spying!”

Their table was in a corner of the restaurant, diagonally across

from Bradley’s reserved table, with a few plants in between that

both hid them and gave them a clear view.

Rebecca elegantly lifted her water glass and took a sip, the

corner of her mouth lifting slightly. “If we’re going to spectate,

of course we need a good spot.”

Madeleine took off her sunglasses, her eyes sparkling. “Leave it to you!”

Chapter 172

Before long, Bradley arrived.

He was wearing a dark shirt for a change today, the cuffs

slightly rolled up to reveal his strong forearms, and he still had

that same cold, stern air about him.

But his brow was slightly furrowed, clearly not looking forward

to this blind date.

Madeleine lowered her voice. “Tsk, look at his face. He looks

like he’s here for a fight, not a blind date.”

“You get used to it. How many people go on blind dates

willingly these days?”

Madeleine picked up on something.

“Rebecca, you’ve been on them too?”

Rebecca shot her a glare. “Are you here for Gossip about

Bradley or about me?”

Madeleine’s eyes lit up even more.

“Where there’s Gossip, there I am!”

“Stop being a smart–ass.”

Chapter 172

Rebecca avoided her gaze and lifted her chin toward the door.

“Looks like Bradley’s blind date is here.”
