Night Carved Paths Into Silence by Zyrel Ash 170
Chapter 170
Seeing this, Madeleine went into full–on drama mode. “Oh,
honey, I think I twisted my ankle too. It hurts so much.”
She fell dramatically into Roderick’s arms. “It must be because
you pulled me along so fast just now.”
Roderick raised an eyebrow at her over–the–top acting, the
corner of his mouth twitching. “Did you twist your left foot or
your right foot?”
Madeleine blinked. “I twisted both of them.”
Roderick sighed helplessly and scooped her up into his arms.
“Then I’ll have to carry you upstairs to put some medicine on it.”
“Yes, yes, the medicine is what’s important!”
Madeleine wrapped her arms around his neck and waved at
Edward. “Mr. Carroll, see yourself out!”
Roderick strode upstairs, but didn’t forget to call back an order, “Roy, see our guest out. And remember to wipe down the entire living room with disinfectant.”
Chapter 170
“Yes, sir.”
Roy, holding back a laugh, respectfully gestured toward the
door for them to leave.
Fiona stood there, looking at Edward’s twisted expression, and
felt incredibly exhausted.
She bent down to pick up her dropped purse and said softly,
“Edward, let’s go…”
“I don’t need you to tell me that!”
Edward spun around abruptly, but froze for a moment when he
saw Fiona’s reddened eyes.
Fiona looked up at him, gave a self–deprecating smile, nodded,
and walked out.
With her injured foot, she was limping as she walked. Roy
couldn’t bear to watch and went over to help her.
Edward didn’t know what to say, his feet felt rooted to the spot.
Roderick kicked the bedroom door open, strode in with
Madeleine in his arms, and then kicked it shut hard with his

heel.
The force of it made Madeleine’s heart jump, and she quickly let
out a dry laugh.
“Hehe, I didn’t actually twist my ankle.”
“Ricki, why don’t you put me down? I can walk by myself, I don’t
need any medicine.”
Before she could finish, she was tossed onto the soft, big bed.
“Oof!”
She feigned rubbing her waist, “Gently…”
Roderick loosened his tie with one hand, looking down at her.
“Explain.”
Madeleine shrank back. “That ‘touch‘ wasn’t a real touch, it was
about figuring him out…”
“Why did you let him in?”
။
Roderick cut her off, his voice low. “You know I don’t like it.”
He knelt on the bed with one knee and pulled Madeleine back
as she tried to escape.
Chapter 170
Madeleine fell into his arms, smelling the faint scent of mint on
him, mixed with a hint of anger.
“Fiona came first. I thought he might be looking for Fiona, and I
was a little curious, so I let him in.”
She muttered under her breath, her voice trembling slightly.
“Who knew he would suddenly go crazy…”
Roderick gripped her chin, not too forcefully, and made her look
His thumb caressed her lips. “Curious about his attitude toward
you now?”
Just as Madeleine was about to argue, Roderick lowered his
head and kissed her.
The kiss was punishing, forcefully prying her lips apart, invading
every inch without room for refusal.
The kiss made Madeleine go weak, her fingers unconsciously
clutching his shirt.
“Mmm…”
She pushed him lightly. “I can’t breathe…”
Chapter 170
Roderick pulled back slightly, but his lips still brushed against
hers. “Will you dare to let him in again?”
Madeleine blinked her watery eyes. “I won’t…”
“Will you dare to defend him again?”
“No…”
“Why didn’t you let me beat him up?”
“I already told you, I was afraid you’d get hurt in a fight!”
Roderick’s eyes darkened.
“You think I’d lose?”
Madeleine understood it all now. Ricki was jealous, really
jealous.
She immediately softened her attitude, looking up to kiss
Roderick’s face, once on this side, once on the other, and then
his nose and eyes.
“That’s not it. I was afraid my husband’s handsome face would
get hurt.”
Roderick’s eyes seemed to be stained with ink as he lowered

his head to kiss her again.
This time it was much gentler, but still impossible to resist.
He cupped the back of her head with one hand and wrapped
the other around her waist, trapping her completely in his
embrace.
“Madeleine.”
He pressed his forehead against hers, his voice hoarse, breathing heavily. “You’re mine.”
Madeleine nodded, blushing, but then she heard him add, “If he
dares to come again, I’ll destroy him.”
They were harsh words, but spoken with tender intimacy.
Madeleine knew he wasn’t joking, but for some reason, her
heart started to race.
“So, this is what the alpha CEOs I read about as a kid are like.
How did I not notice before?”
Madeleine chuckled softly. “Roderick, that Short–form Web Drama I sent you last time, did you secretly learn from it?”
“Mhm.”
Chapter 170
Roderick nodded freely, then pulled off his belt with one
