Night Carved Paths Into Silence by Zyrel Ash 157
Chapter 157
Madeleine bit her lower lip and nodded lightly.
Her heart was beating so fast it felt like it would burst out of her
chest.
“So… are you scared?”
Madeleine’s heart beat faster.
She didn’t say anything, just nodded again.
Roderick couldn’t help but laugh, his voice husky and alluring.
He leaned down and reverently kissed Madeleine’s forehead.
“We’ll take it slow.”
After he spoke, his kisses traveled down, over her eyes, the tip
of her nose, and finally rested on her lips, light and gentle.
His hands weren’t idle either, deftly untying the belt of her
bathrobe.
Although the room was warm, it was no match for the heat of
Madeleine’s body.
Chapter 157
When her skin met the air, she still shivered uncontrollably.
Their breaths tangled together, like an inescapable fate.
Like the spray of waves, like the tide.
It surged upward, bit by bit, wave after wave, devouring the
reason in her mind.
Madeleine had no strength left. In the end, she didn’t even
know how she managed to whisper the word “scared” to
Roderick in a breathy, tearful voice.
His breathing was heavy as he buried his face in the crook of
Madeleine’s neck for a long time.
Finally, he lifted his head, gazing at her for a moment in the dim
light, and then gave a helpless smile.
“Okay, we’ll stop.”
He rolled over to lie beside her, pulling her into his arms. Her
warm breath brushed against his ear.
“But you have to help me.”
Madeleine’s mind had already gone blank from his coaxing,
unable to think.
Chapter 157
He didn’t even wait for Madeleine to respond, decisively taking
her hand and guiding it.
Madeleine’s hand instantly turned so red it looked like it would
bleed.
She felt like maybe the heat was turned up a little too high.
It seemed a little hot.
She felt her back was getting a little sweaty…
Mmm, Roderick was sweating too.
She leaned over and licked his Adam’s apple, hearing Roderick
let out a low groan. Only one thought flashed through her mind.
I have to turn down the heat, or we’ll both just get hotter and
hotter…
Soon.
Madeleine felt her arm getting even more sore.
She whined softly, “Roderick, my hand is sore.”
He leaned in and coaxed, “Good girl, keep going.”
Chapter 157
When she opened her eyes again, Madeleine felt like her whole
body had fallen apart. She reached out a hand; Roderick must
have been up for a while.
She opened her eyes and stared at the ceiling as the sensual
scenes from last night began to replay in her mind.
“Ah…”
She pulled the blanket over her head to hide her burning
cheeks. Madeleine felt so embarrassed.
But then she had another thought.
For Roderick, this was nothing. In her past memories, it wasn’t
like the two of them hadn’t done it before.
Thinking this way, Madeleine felt less shy.
She sat up in bed and noticed her foot was neatly wrapped in a
layer of breathable gauze, and the scent of cooling ointment
hung in the air.
This is…
Chapter 157
Madeleine froze. After last night, she had been so tired she was
about to pass out.
It was Roderick who had gotten up to clean her hand, and
afterward, she vaguely remembered someone lifting her ankle.
It seemed Roderick had put the medicine on for her then.
Madeleine wiggled her toes and grinned foolishly.
Who would have thought she and her sworn enemy could have
such a loving day.
Oh, if only something like the Time Travel genre really existed.
Then she would definitely travel back to her childhood, run up to
that troublemaking, hell–raising little Ricki, put her hands on her
hips, and tell him.
“You’re so annoying now, but you’re going to pay for it later!”
Just thinking about it made Madeleine chuckle.
She got up and stretched, and the soreness from dancing last
night finally felt much better.
Madeleine changed and went downstairs, her mind
preoccupied with how to act natural around Roderick, only to

find him watching Kirsten and Roy clean.
It wasn’t just them; Kevin and Minerva, the two little ones, were
also being bossed around by Roderick.
Madeleine scratched her head, completely baffled.
Is it Labor Day today?
“You’re awake?”
Roderick noticed her, and as he walked over, his eyes were
fixed on Madeleine’s feet.
“Does it hurt?
You’ve got a lot more scrapes.”
“It doesn’t hurt. This is nothing.”
Afraid her cousin Minerva would make fun of her, Madeleine
waved her hand dismissively. “Back in the day, I finished a
whole dance routine on a sprained ankle. This is nothing.”
“Good, as long as it doesn’t hurt. Go have some breakfast.”
“What about you guys?”
Chapter 157
Minerva, who was helping water the plant on the table, looked
over with a helpless expression.
