The Heart Surgeon’s Last Patient Novel Chapter 135

Night Carved Paths Into Silence by Zyrel Ash 135

Chapter 135

But this was different.

The man before her unbuttoned his collar with one hand,

revealing his collarbone and lean muscles, his body radiating a

mature, masculine scent.

With him, Madeleine was at a loss…

She was about to say more, but Roderick’s aggressive kiss

descended, swallowing all her words.

The room was quiet.

There was only the sound of breathing and the occasional, blush–inducing sound of kisses.

Roderick didn’t just stop at that. He fumbled with Madeleine’s

blouse, and in a few quick movements, he had pulled her arms

free.

The room was a bit cool, but Madeleine’s body was frighteningly hot.

She was trembling all over with nervousness.

Chapter 135

When she felt Roderick’s large hand move down, trying to slip

inside her camisole…

“Mmph!”

Madeleine’s eyes widened, and she quickly shook her head to

stop him.

Roderick pulled away from her lips.

His gaze was fiery, questioning.

“Roderick… I’m… scared.”

Madeleine’s voice was trembling.

Just those words, and the wall around Roderick’s heart seemed

to crumble.

He saw Madeleine’s eyes sparkling, with what looked like a few

tears clinging to her lashes, and his heart immediately softened.

“It’s okay, it’s okay.”

Roderick leaned in and kissed her forehead.

“I won’t tease you anymore.”

Chapter 135

Roderick’s voice was low and hoarse, tinged with restraint. He

took a deep breath and straightened Madeleine’s shirt.

Madeleine’s cheeks were flushed, her eyes still misty, like a

frightened little rabbit huddled in the corner of the sofa.

She bit her lower lip and mumbled, “Why’d you have to do that

all of a sudden?”

Roderick chuckled, reaching out to ruffle the top of her head,

his tone a mix of helplessness and affection, “Who started it by

teasing me first?”

Madeleine glared at him defiantly, but the corners of her eyes

were still red. The look had no menace at all; instead, it made

Roderick’s chest tighten again.

He closed his eyes, suppressing the urge, and got up to pour a

glass of cold water, which he downed in one go.

The cold water sliding down his throat finally calmed him down.

a bit.

“We should get ready. If we don’t leave soon, they’ll call to rush

us.”

As Madeleine spoke, she got up to leave, but was pulled back

at the door.

Roderick hugged her, suddenly lowered his head, and sucked

hard on her neck.

“This is your punishment.”

His voice was impossibly hoarse.

Madeleine let out a small cry, hitting his shoulder. “Don’t leave a

mark!”

“Too late.”

Roderick left another clear red mark just above her collarbone

before letting her go, satisfied.

He could wait.

He’d waited this long; another day or two wouldn’t make a

difference.

When the time was right, he would devour this little rabbit

whole.

I had just gotten up and was ready to leave when there was a

knock on the door.

Chapter 135

It was Kevin.

The kid has a strong sense of time. He knew we were going to

his grandpa’s tonight, so he came over right on schedule.

“Dad, Mom, why did you lock the door?”

Roderick had just opened the door when he heard the little

guy’s confused voice.

Roderick couldn’t help but smile.

“We were busy.”

Afraid that Roderick would say something inappropriate in front

of the child, Madeleine quickly knelt down to be at eye level with

her son.

“Maddie, sweetie, Mommy and Daddy were just discussing

something important. For work.”

Kevin didn’t say anything. He tilted his head, his eyes fixed on

Madeleine’s neck.

He frowned, his tone serious. “Mom, you’re hurt here.”

Madeleine froze. Before she could react, the little guy in front of her had already turned to Roderick, his little face tense.

Chapter 135

“Dad, you promised to protect Mom. How could you let her get

hurt? It wasn’t there at lunch.”

Madeleine finally realized what he meant and touched the spot

where Roderick had just kissed her, blushing bright red.

She quickly turned her son by the shoulders and explained with

a forced laugh.

“No, Maddie, Mommy just got a mosquito bite.”

“A mosquito?”

Kevin’s frown deepened.

When have we ever had mosquitoes in the house?

No, I have to tell Mrs. Wilson later. I’ll have her tell the

exterminators to get rid of all the mosquitoes in the house.

They can’t bite Mom again.

It’s such a big red spot…

Mom must be in pain and itchy.

Madeleine was annoyed. She stood up and shot a glare at the

culprit beside her.

Chapter 135

She gestured with her eyes for him to take their son downstairs.

She couldn’t go out like this; she had to put on some makeup to

cover it up.

After applying concealer two or three times until the mark was

barely visible, Madeleine finally stopped.

As she came downstairs, she heard Bradley’s voice from the

living room. He was teasing Kevin.
