The Heart Surgeon’s Last Patient Novel Chapter 117

Night Carved Paths Into Silence by Zyrel Ash 117

To avoid giving herself away, Rebecca put on an adoring

expression. “I just admire Professor Shaw so much. You’re the

youngest professor of life sciences, both here and

internationally. I’m sure I could learn so much from you.”

Adrian, who had been praised his entire life, suddenly felt his

ears getting hot for some reason.

He avoided Rebecca’s gaze and picked up his glass to take a

sip of water.

“You flatter me.”

After saying that, he asked, “By the way, I only know you as

Rebecca. I don’t actually know your name.”

“Eleanor.”

Rebecca’s lips curled into a smile, her face a picture of pure

innocence.

Just then, her phone vibrated twice. She glanced down, saw it

was a message from Roderick, and after reading it, quickly

placed her phone face down on the table.

Chapter 117

Roderick: You don’t have to go to all this trouble to get Adrian to

join the Whitman group. Be careful you don’t try to hook him

and end up in the gutter yourself.

Roderick and Madeleine got back a little after eleven.

Kirsten was still awake. She heard the noise, came to open the

door, and gasped when she saw them.

“Sir!

You… what happened to you and Madeleine?”

Outside the door, Roderick had a messy bird’s nest of hair and

was carrying Madeleine in his arms. She was already asleep,

nestled against him.

Kirsten felt a bit awkward as she stole a few more glances at

Roderick’s hair.

Is that… the new trendy hairstyle?

“Kirsten, could you please make some Hangover–Relief Broth?”

“Oh, yes, of course. So Madeleine is drunk. I’ll go make it right

now.”

After carrying Madeleine back to the room, Roderick helplessly

ruffled his own hair a couple of times.

An hour ago, the two of them were having a romantic, delicious

candlelight dinner, enjoying the evening scenery on the cruise

ship, whispering sweet, flirty things to each other.

Everything was beautiful and peaceful.

He never should have caved and let Madeleine drink!

Just over half a glass of red wine, and she started slurring her

words, her eyes getting hazy.

If Roderick hadn’t stopped her with all his might, she would

have already jumped into the sea to take a bath.

After he finally managed to stop her from jumping into the sea,

Madeleine clung to Roderick like a koala, insisting she wanted

to do clay sculpting.

Sculpting what?

Roderick’s hair.

When Mathew came to pick them up, he was too stunned to speak. Madeleine was just hanging on Roderick, her hands

vigorously messing up his hair.

And through it all, Roderick didn’t show the slightest bit of

anger, only helplessness and adoration in his eyes.

Mathew had always thought of himself as a model husband,

but compared to this, he still had a long way to go.

After Roderick brought Madeleine back to the room, he took off

her makeup and wiped her face with a hot towel.

It wasn’t the first time he’d done this, so he was quite skilled at

Kirsten finished making the Hangover–Relief Broth and brought

it over, seeing that Madeleine had already changed into her

pajamas and was sleeping soundly.

“She’s already asleep. Should I still wake her up?”

“Yes. If she doesn’t drink some of the broth, she’ll have a

headache when she wakes up tomorrow.”

After speaking, Roderick helped Madeleine sit up, letting her lean against him.

“Maddie?

Madeleine.”

Chapter 117

Madeleine smacked her lips a couple of times and cracked her

eyes open a sliver.

“Is my clay sculpture fired yet?”

Roderick grimaced. If this “clay sculpture” was fired, he’d be

bald.

Though speechless, he still played along with her. “It’s being

fired now.”

“Oh… When it’s done, I’m going to give it to you. I sculpted a little rabbit for you.”

“A little rabbit?

Why?”

“Because I’m the one who killed that little rabbit you had as a

kid, waah…”

Madeleine suddenly burst out crying, startling Kirsten so much

she almost spilled the Hangover–Relief Broth.

Roderick could only soothe her with a few words, then took the bowl and fed her the broth spoonful by spoonful.

After tasting it and deciding it was pretty good, Madeleine

decisively took the bowl and drank more than half of it.

Then, she fell right back to sleep.

Kirsten let out a sigh of relief. “Madeleine’s tolerance for alcohol

and her behavior when drunk… really haven’t improved at all.”

Roderick smiled and nodded, thinking to himself that he

couldn’t get soft and agree to let her drink anymore.

It was one thing when he was with her, but what if no one was

around and she started making a drunken scene on the street?

“How was Kevin today?

Did he misbehave?”
