The Heart Surgeon’s Last Patient Novel Chapter 101

Night Carved Paths Into Silence by Zyrel Ash 101

hapter 101

At first, he was complaining about his playboy dad, who had

recently gotten involved with a pretty older woman and was out

painting the town red.

Then he started talking about the weird patients at the hospital.

“Last week, I had just finished a pituitary tumor surgery. When

the old guy woke up, he told me his wife thought his snoring had gotten quieter and asked if he could get a refund!”

“And yesterday, a young guy with a head injury was afraid of

needles. He was on the verge of death, but he was running all

over the place clutching a hospital blanket, and we couldn’t find

him.”

“What the hell is with all these weirdos…”

Madeleine listened with great interest, while Roderick beside

her listened with a calm expression, as if he was used to it.

He saw that Bradley was already on his third bottle of beer and

leaned close to Madeleine’s ear.

“One more bottle, and we’re done talking about the hospital.”

Chapter 101

Madeleine heard that and knew the real gossip was about to

start, her eyes fixed on the beer bottle without blinking.

Finally, after the fourth bottle, Bradley started slurring his words,

and his eyes began to lose focus.

“Roderick, you… you know what I found out recently?”

“What.”

He grinned, and his eyes seemed to be red.

“I found out the other day, my sister… hiccup, my sister, she has

a boyfriend.”

The fork in Roderick’s hand suddenly paused. He looked up at

Bradley but didn’t say anything.

Madeleine didn’t quite get this piece of gossip. Does Bradley

have a sister?

She didn’t remember anything about it.

Oh, maybe he did. They weren’t that close before, anyway.

Wait, that’s not right. His sister has a boyfriend, so why is he reacting so strongly?

Chapter 101

Bradley kept rambling, his voice already choking up.

“She’s probably been seeing him for a while. She’s always had

me blocked on her moments. Maybe she forgot to block me

yesterday?”

Bradley laughed again. “I only got one look, then I couldn’t see anything anymore. Roderick, do you think she did it on

purpose?”

Roderick didn’t say anything, just quietly put the two unfinished

beers next to him back into the case.

The guy’s tolerance for alcohol was only a little better than Madeleine’s. If he kept drinking, he’d probably make a scene at

the Spicy Numbing Hot Pot restaurant.

Madeleine could only piece together one serious piece of

information from his fragmented words.

Bradley is in love with his sister

In an instant, the Spicy Numbing Hot Pot didn’t seem so appealing anymore. Madeleine pushed her bowl away, sat up

straight, and continued to listen.

But the kid just kept mumbling the same few words over and

over.

“No, what on earth did your sister post?”

“She… she posted a picture with that guy, and they were

standing…”

Bradley was dazed, pointing at the two people sitting across

from him.

“They were as close as you two!”

Madeleine touched her nose.

Oh, really? That is a little close.

Bradley was still complaining.

“She said she was just going for further studies, how could she

start dating… Roderick, tell me, is she a female player?”

“Yeah.”

Roderick nodded in agreement.

But then Bradley slammed the table in a rage.

“Who said you could call my sister a female player!”

Chapter 101

The slam on the table almost made Madeleine jump. She

flinched and asked Roderick, “How are you not angry?”

“Why get angry at a drunk? It’s better to let him vent.”

Madeleine nodded, thinking that made some sense.

“He really likes his sister, isn’t that in…”

“They’re not blood–related.”

Seeing that they were ignoring him, Bradley started acting up again, holding up his empty glass and telling Roderick to keep drinking with him.

Madeleine quickly grabbed the nearby juice and poured it in.

Soon, Bradley, who thought he could drink anyone under the

table, chugged three large bottles of apple juice and finally

threw up.

“Should we have Mathew take you home first?”

Roderick glanced at the unconscious Bradley, figuring it was

impossible for him to get home on his own.

“It’s fine, I’ll go with you guys.”

Chapter 101

“Alright.”

Madeleine’s offer to accompany them was just an excuse; what

she really wanted was to get more gossip.

On the way, she finally got the full story.

Bradley’s mother died young, and his father was a total playboy

who, growing up, gave Bradley nothing but money.

This was also why Bradley acted out so much when he was in

school.

When Bradley was thirteen, his father remarried, and his new wife brought home a fifteen–year–old daughter named Charlotte

Hayes.

Charlotte was like a ray of light in Bradley’s dark adolescence, giving him a special kind of care he’d never had before.
