He nodded. “Alright, it’s about time. The competition can start now. Next, the finalists‘ designs will be displayed one by one, and the judges will score them as a group to decide the winner.”
The judges focused on the final entries. Designs for third and second place appeared on the big screen. The audience buzzed with discussion, recognizing these as top–tier works by the most talented designers in the field.
So what kind of entry would take first place? It had to be extraordinary.
Third place went to a designer from Eternity Design Studio, while second place went to a professor from Capitol University’s architecture department. But the first–place entry still hasn’t been revealed yet.
People in the audience began to murmur. “What’s going on? Why isn’t the first–place design on the screen yet?”
Danielle smiled faintly and shot Adriana a loaded look. “The results are basically set in stone.”
“Nobody knows who the real fool is until the very end.” Denton, fiercely protective of Adriana, glared at
Danielle.

Maya, sitting next to Denton, spoke up for Adriana, too. “Exactly. Someone’s going to get a rude awakening when the results are announced.”
Danielle let out a cold laugh, full of confidence. “We’ll just wait and see who gets humiliated.”
Adriana said nothing and just quietly watched the judges‘ table.
“These two designs are identical. There’s no doubt one of them must be plagiarized,” one of the judges said, shocked. How did two identical entries make it to the finals? Something had clearly gone wrong.
“Could there have been a mix–up with the designers‘ names?”
They checked carefully, but the names were correct–there really were two designers submitting similar designs.
“Sorry for the delay. There’s been a problem with the first–place entry. Right now, there are two designs that are nearly identical. One of the designers has committed plagiarism.” The lead judge displayed both works on the big screen.
Everyone was stunned–the two entries really were almost exactly the same.
Danielle smiled with confidence and stood up. “One of these is my design. As for the other, I don’t know when the plagiarism happened.”
Denton looked at Adriana, a little flustered, and whispered, “Adriana, isn’t that your design?”
Adriana leaned back in her seat, watching Danielle’s show with a calm expression.
“If you say the design is yours, do you have proof? How do you know someone else copied you?” The director of Barton Group’s design department spoke up. He didn’t trust Adriana’s abilities, but she was competing under Barton Group’s name.
If Adriana were found guilty of plagiarism, Barton Group would lose all credibility, and all the executives would lose faith in her completely.
“Of course I have proof. Every designer should know how to protect their original drafts.” Danielle glanced at her assistant, who handed a USB drive with the original sketches to the judges.
“These are my hand–drawn originals. You can see the entire process, all the revisions, and the final submission time and date.” Danielle presented her evidence with confidence.
A recorded process like this was the best possible way to prove someone had copied your work.
Adriana calmly glanced at the footage on the screen, then at Danielle’s smug face, and said, “A recording. Ms. Danielle, you really came prepared.”
“Adriana, are you admitting you plagiarized?” Someone from Barton Group, unable to sit still, blurted out.
If Adriana really were found guilty, Barton Group would never live it down.
