Besides, Yolanda was a very practical girl. She could find someone on her level or someone more successful than her. She’d rather marry up and cry in a penthouse than help a boy climb his way to the top.
The cost of growth was too high, and she and Denton clearly weren’t from the same world.
She admitted she was selfish. She wasn’t willing to wait for Denton to grow.
What’s more, Denton’s path to success would take a very, very long time.
Even if someday Denton might reach heights that would leave her in the dust, at least right now… she didn’t want to wait, and she didn’t want to waste this kid’s time.
She felt that Denton deserved someone from a similar background who could help him in his career, someone gentle and innocent who would be by his side.
Not someone like her who only wanted to marry up.
At the hospital, Adriana had scheduled a C–section, so she barely suffered at all before the babies were born safely.
They were fraternal twins—a boy and a girl. Both babies were only slightly bigger than an adult man’s palm, all wrinkled and looking incredibly fragile.
“Curtis couldn’t come to the hospital, and he was probably dying of anxiety. You should at least send him some videos.” Irene looked excitedly at the two babies, her face glowing with the joy of becoming an elder.
Gary snorted and wickedly put away his phone. “Let him stew for a while.”
In reality, he was green with envy that the kid had gotten both a son and a daughter at once.
Adriana delivered the fraternal twins safely and stayed in the hospital to recover for a week before going home.
Curtis had been waiting at home like a statue, about to turn to stone. He couldn’t go to a crowded place like a hospital, so he could only eagerly wait for Yolanda and Denton to send him photos of his wife and children.
But Yolanda and Denton must have lost their minds or something, because neither of them

sent him a single message or photo.

Curtis was furious, but no one answered when he called.
He strongly suspected they were all doing this on purpose.

Finally, when Denton came home and Curtis was just about to ask him a few questions, he saw Denton packing his suitcase with red–rimmed eyes, looking like he was about to leave.
“Where are you going?” Curtis was shocked.
“Curtis… I need to move out and be alone for a while.” Denton said with a choked voice, pulling his suitcase and leaving.
Curtis was speechless. He took a deep breath and thought. He needed to be alone?
What about the photos and videos of my wife and kids?
Seeing Denton looking like he wanted to die, Curtis didn’t bother asking. He didn’t understand young people’s drama anymore.
Just as Curtis watched Denton leave, Yolanda came home shortly after.
Curtis glanced at the time. Why wasn’t his wife home yet? “Why isn’t Adriana back yet? The kids…”
Curtis wanted to ask Yolanda, but then he saw Yolanda also looking upset as she went into her room and slammed the door shut.
Curtis sucked in a deep breath and held back.
Before long, Yolanda also came out dragging a suitcase, looking like she was leaving too.
Curtis asked with a bewildered expression. “You need to be alone too?”
Yolanda looked at Curtis in surprise. “How did
you know?”
“Denton just left not long ago. He said he was going to stay elsewhere and be alone for a while.” Curtis said dryly.
Yolanda paused, then breathed a sigh of relief. “Oh, he moved out? Then I won’t leave.”
With that, Yolanda quickly dragged her suitcase back to her room.
Curtis couldn’t be bothered with the two of them. Finally, when he saw Gary’s car pull in, he

rushed out excitedly. “My wife, where’s my wife?”

He completely ignored Gary and Irene, who were each holding one of the babies, and rushed to the car to get his wife.
“You don’t need to be so tense. The doctor said she should walk around more.” Adriana looked helplessly at Curtis as he carried her toward the living room.
“Don’t listen to what the doctors here say. Listen to what doctors back home say–you need to rest after giving birth.” Curtis said seriously. “Can’t let you catch a chill.”
Adriana held onto Curtis. After they got back to the room and Curtis placed her on the bed, she finally spoke, “Haven’t you even looked at the babies yet?”
Curtis paused, only then remembering there were two little ones now.
Gary and Irene carried the babies into the room, and only then did Curtis look at them awkwardly.
Two babies–it wouldn’t be right to hold one first over the other.
“Look at your daughter.” Irene first handed the baby to Curtis. “Fraternal twins. Both babies are very healthy. Adriana is truly a blessing.”
Curtis felt stiff, nervously holding the child in his arms. Looking at that tiny little thing, he glanced nervously at Adriana. “Why is she so tiny?”
Adriana laughed. “She came out of my belly. How big could she be?”
Curtis was amazed too. These two tiny little beings had just appeared in his life just like that.
Irene kicked Gary. “Stop staring. Give them the baby back.”
Only then did Gary reluctantly put the baby down and leave with Irene.
Irene could tell–Gary wanted to keep the baby for himself.
