The Alpha’s Golden Cage Novel Chapter 55

The Alchemist of Broken Dreams by Sienna Rose Blackwell 55

I drank the whole glass of whiskey before slamming my body against the couch. These past few days have been exhausting. Just when I thought everything was going smoothly, unexpected things happened.

Honestly, it wasn’t surprised at all. I was actually afraid this would happen. But what I didn’t calculate was that it would happen sooner.

I have been pushing my marriage alliance with the Velasquez clan. I don’t need their power. I’m powerful as it is. But I needed their connection to bring down a syndicate that has been pestering my city for quite some time now. I need to infiltrate their operation. According to my sources, the Velasquez clan was the one protecting those groups. When the war starts, it will be messy. And I need to get Dylan out of the city in order to protect her.

I didn’t have plans of interfering with her life. I’m contented loving her from afar. But my plan changed the moment I saw Dylan in that bar. And when I figured out that she had already divorced her husband, I couldn’t let that opportunity pass. I have to make her mine no matter what the cost.

I blew out a long, frustrated breath as I pressed my fingers into the bridge of my nose, trying to ease the tension pounding behind my eyes. I’d been patient for years–too patient. I stepped back when she chose to be with that man; I let her build a life far from mine, convinced I could keep my distance and still protect her.

But patience had its limits.

The moment she came back into my life, every thread I’d been clinging to snapped. I wasn’t going to lose her again. Not to fate, not to idiots who couldn’t follow orders, and definitely not to men who thought they could touch what was mine.

My phone vibrated on the table.

One of my men spoke the moment I answered, his voice thin with panic. “Sir–there’s been an attack.”

My hand stilled.

“What attack?” My voice dropped, low and cold.

“The convoy on the way to the airport… it was ambushed by armed men. They didn’t even stop to negotiat sir. They opened fire immediately.”

My heart thudded once–slow and heavy. “Where is she?” I asked, keeping my tone flat.

Silence stretched on the other end.

“Speak.”

“Sir… the gas station blew up.”

A slow, numbing chill crawled up my spine.

“They found… pieces. Bodies scattered after the explosion. Your men. And… one woman.”

My grip tightened around the phone until my knuckles cracked. Every pulse in my body roared with a fury I hadn’t felt in years.

My vision went dark at the edges.

He kept talking, but I barely heard him–just fragments cutting through the rush of blood in my ears.

“We can’t confirm identities yet.”

“There was nothing left intact.”

“We’re still searching. But I’m afraid, Madam—”

I forced in a breath, sharp and dangerous. I don’t want to accept what he’s about to say
