She got the divorce and bolted 73

Chapter 73

1/2

Michelle went still. She slowly turned her head and found Clayton standing behind her, his eyes narrowed dangerously.

He had caught her talking smack about him, and to make things worse, she couldn’t afford to get on his bad side. Terrified, Michelle spat out the ice chips and burst into a coughing fit.

Clayton closed in on her, the air around him cold and suffocating as he pressed, “Why’d you stop talking? Go on, tell me what you want to tattoo on my forehead?”

Seeing this, Sienna quickly grabbed a few tissues and wiped Michelle’s mouth. She smoothly stepped in front of Michelle like a veritable shield. “What are you doing here? Did you get lost again?”

Clayton’s gaze darted past Sienna and swept over Michelle, who shrank into herself. She wished she could slither into the cracks in the floor and stay in hiding.

Only then did Clayton turn to Sienna. There was no room for negotiation in his tone as he bit out, “There’s a business dinner tonight. You’re coming with me.”

“Why can’t you go alone? I don’t want to go.” Sienna turned him down without a second thought.

“Grandpa asked that we go together.” Clayton’s voice dropped. “He’ll be there too. Do you want him to find out we’ve been fighting?”

Sienna was silent for a moment as she considered her options. All she had to do was endure Clayton for another 20–odd days,

and she would be 50 million dollars richer.

Instead of protesting, she obediently followed Clayton into the car.

In the car, Rowan tried to make his breathing as soundless as possible as he drove quietly. The couple in the backseat were fighting, and the last thing he wanted was to become cannon fodder.

Sienna turned toward the window, her gaze unfocused. There was no telling what was in her mind, and she refused to speak.

Clayton cast a sidelong glance at her, noting her furious side profile.

“Who pissed you off? Must you carry on with this crappy job? It’s bad form to flirt with a movie star. Please don’t tell me you’re only working there so you can see your favorite celebrities up close.”

Sienna couldn’t be bothered to spare him a look.

“No, Mich needed help on set, so I came over at the last minute for assistance.” She paused, then asked, “Are you happy with that answer, Mr. Hale?”

Clayton was far from placated. “Then why did you accept that gigolo’s iced latte and autographed portrait?”

Sienna wanted to counter him by asking why he had visited Melody on set and brought her so much food. Why had he bought her an air purifier just because she coughed?

But Sienna held her questions back. She figured he would, more likely than not, answer, “I’m showing concern for Melody’s well–being because I love her. Isn’t that a given? I don’t see how any of that is your business, Sienna.”

She would be asking for humiliation.

“He’s nice and generous with everyone he meets,” Sienna replied vaguely.

Clayton snorted. “Right. I think he just has a thing for you.”
