She Got the Divorce and Bolted Novel Chapter 69

She got the divorce and bolted 69

Chapter 69

Just as Sienna was about to head upstairs, she heard Clayton continue in a languid drawl.

“Mom was here. She wants you to go to the clinic with her tomorrow at 9:00 am to get your herbal supplements,” he said.

Sienna instantly whipped her head around. “You didn’t reject her on my behalf?”

“Why should I? You’re the one suffering, not me. You can run, but you can’t hide…” Clayton retorted, his words trailing off. Under the warm lights, his gleeful grin seemed almost sinister.

Sienna shot him a fierce glare. As much as she wanted to stomp upstairs, she forced herself to hold back, considering the fact that Edna was asleep.

The next day, Irene showed up on time at Baymont Residences. Unable to refuse her, Sienna had no choice but to follow her to the renowned Yates Clinic, which was famous for its traditional medicine practices.

Standing over a century old, Yates Clinic carried a charm both timeless and exotic. Above its crimson door, a signboard proudly bore its name. Inside, the sandalwood cabinets released a woody aroma, mingled with the sharp, bitter scent of dry

herbs.

The attending doctor, Julius Yates, was an elderly man with a full head of gray hair and a beard. Rumor had it that his ancestors had once served as royal physicians.

As Julius examined Sienna’s pulse, his brows knitted into a frown. “Your body seems to be low in iron and lacks warmth. If you don’t take care of it, you could be at risk during childbirth,” he explained.

Hearing that, Irene became anxious. “Is it that serious? Is there still a chance for treatment?”

“I’ll give you some herbal supplements. Take one in the morning and one at night. Let’s finish one course of medication first, “Julius concluded, scribbling a few prescriptions on a piece of paper and giving them several reminders.

Sienna stared at the long, incomprehensible lines scrawled across the paper. She could almost taste the bitterness of the

supplements.

When the trainee doctor brought over the ingredients–the dried, coal–black cohosh, the pungent horseradish, and the grotesque dried lizards–she felt utterly nauseated.

Could she refuse to have a child? If she did, maybe she wouldn’t have to take the supplements at all.

On the way home, Irene sternly warned Sienna, “Don’t think I didn’t notice you pouring the supplements into the potted plants last time. That natal lily died afterward. No more tricks this time.

“Record yourself taking the supplements and send a video to me. I’ll ask Edna to brew it for you. And if you pull any more stunts, you’ll be taking them at the Hale residence, under my watch.”

Seeing Sienna’s dejected expression, Irene softened her tone. “That Foster girl won’t cause any trouble. It’s surprising that Clay is so willing to try for a child. That shows he’s also willing to build a long life with you.

“Take good care of your body. Perhaps once you have a child, Dad will be happy and recover faster.”

Sienna rolled her eyes inwardly. She was about to get a divorce, so none of the things Irene mentioned would ever come to pass. It was Clayton’s fault for spouting nonsense to his mother.

By 9:00 pm, Edna had finished brewing the supplements. She set the bowl on the table. Steam rose from the dark, glossy liquid, filling the whole dining room with a sharp, bitter scent.

“It’s time for your supplements, ma’am,” Edna announced.

Sienna slowly walked over, pinching her nose. She stared at the bowl as if it were poison, and her brows furrowed in distaste. “Just leave it there. I’ll drink it once it’s cooled.”

“It’s cool enough to drink, ma’am. Your mother–in–law instructed me to make sure you finish it.” Edna reminded her.

“You must be tired after a full day at work, Edna. I promise I’ll finish it. Besides, I have to record it, right? Do you really think I’d cheat?” Sienna replied, blinking innocently. Her voice brimmed with sincerity.

Edna hesitated, then finally relented. She turned on her heel and left.

The dining room fell into silence once more. Sienna stared at the bowl of dark liquid, her mind racing as she thought of a way out. Suddenly, an idea struck her.

Food vloggers often pretended to eat, turning off the camera just before swallowing–maybe she could do the same. But it would be far worse if the bitter liquid touched her tongue, and she didn’t swallow.

Then a better idea occurred to her. There was Coke in the fridge, and its dark hue was almost indistinguishable from the supplement’s. She could switch the two, pull the camera farther away when filming, and simply act out the bitterness when drinking. How brilliant!
