Chapter 66
Shannon never expected a mere assistant like Sienna would challenge her.
Seething with rage, she threatened, “Who do you think you are? Mr. Turner specially appointed this makeup artist to attend to Ms. Foster whenever she needed her. Do you even get the rules around here? Didn’t you hear how the last assistant got fired?”
Sienna took a step toward Shannon and looked at the latter condescendingly.
“I don’t see anything to learn from that case. And you keep disregarding me as a mere assistant, but aren’t you one too? So why are you being so cocky? You think being Melody’s assistant gives you special privileges?
“If you have any complaints, have Mr. Turner speak to me. Otherwise, we’ll follow the rules here. No one gets special
treatment.”
At a loss for words, Shannon left only a sharp warning before slamming the door behind her. Michelle could barely contain her laughter and shot Sienna a thumbs–up in the mirror after Shannon stormed out.
“You’re awesome, Sienna! I clashed with her before, and it ended up delaying the shoot. The director told us off for scheming and causing trouble. He said that we needed to bury the hatchet. Rosa sometimes has a go at Melody, but she keeps it down since Miles has Melody’s back,” Michelle said.
A snort escaped Sienna’s lips as she promised, “Don’t worry. I’ll take care of him.”
Soon after Michelle went for the shoot, Sienna settled in a folding chair to rest. She yawned, still feeling groggy from waking up too early.
Just then, her phone buzzed, lighting up with several messages from Clayton, whose contact was saved as “Tightwad“.
“Why did you get up so early today?”
“Did you get kicked out of the pigpen?”
“Or are you hunting for a job?”
“You’re rather persistent about playing this job–hunting game, huh? I might as well start calling you ‘Roach‘.”
As Sienna read the messages, her brow twitched in annoyance.
She replied bluntly, “Screw you.”
At that moment, a gentle voice came from behind her, carrying a faint snicker. “And here I was wondering where Michelle found herself such an arrogant assistant. Turns out it’s you, Sienna Winger.”
Sienna turned around to see Melody, completely decked out in a gown and full makeup.
“Instead of living it up like a rich lady, you came here to work as a lowly assistant. You’re such a disgrace to Clay,” Melody mocked. A faint sneer played on her lips, and her eyes glinted with mockery.
Sienna leaned lazily against the back of the chair and glanced at her. “I’m just trying out different experiences. But really, your arrogance beats mine hands down, Ms. Foster. Even as the second lead, you run this set like the main star.”
She paused and suddenly raised her voice. “Honestly, if Regina wasn’t so talented and popular, someone would’ve already tried to knock her off that throne.”
Just then, Regina Kirk, the female lead of the film, happened to walk by. Upon overhearing Sienna’s claim, she stopped in her tracks and shot Melody a meaningful glance.
Meeting Regina’s gaze, Melody nervously clarified, “That’s not funny, Sienna. Ms. Kirk is widely recognized for her acting. How could I possibly take her place?”

“You know very well whether that thought has crossed your mind before too,” Sienna retorted with a faint smile.
Once Regina was out of sight, Melody’s smile fell. She lowered her voice, though it still carried a subtle hint of arrogance.
“And so what if I can? You know life’s easier in the entertainment industry when someone’s got your back. Besides, Clay was the one who helped me land this job.
“Though I did wish I could play the main lead, he was thinking ahead for me. He was worried I’d get backlash for taking the lead in such a famous franchise. To be exact, he was worried that I’d clash with Regina’s fans.”
A troubled yet tender expression crossed Melody’s face as she continued, “Clay couldn’t bear to see me caught up in all that drama, so I agreed to settle for the second lead. Otherwise, I would’ve easily gotten the main role.”
Sienna snickered coldly in her heart. Clayton had really planned everything out for Melody. Yet when it came to her, he had mocked her for using her connections.
Sienna’s lips curled up into a smirk. Mimicking Clayton’s condescending manner, she sarcastically retorted, “You sound so proud getting in through connections–you’re bragging about it like it’s an achievement.
“When you receive an award, why don’t you just carve ‘Sponsored by Clayton Hale‘ on your head and announce it to the world?”
