She Got the Divorce and Bolted Novel Chapter 27

She got the divorce and bolted 27

Chapter 27

“My hubby’s dead,” Sienna replied immediately.

Clayton tightened his grip on the steering wheel. He could still recall Sienna calling him “hubby” shyly in the past. Yet, he heard it much less from some point onward.

He was going to say something, yet he saw through the rearview mirror that Sienna was resting with her eyes closed. It was

clear she did not want to interact with him.

As soon as they arrived at the destination, Sienna sat up instantly. She opened the door and was about to dash.

Clayton rolled down the window and called after her, “Don’t forget to transfer the taxi fare to me.”

Sienna almost tripped and fell. She looked at him in disbelief. “Do you even need that money?”

“There’s no harm in having more.” Clayton curled his lips. “After all, someone even took the bedsheets when they left home.

Sienna pretended as if she had no idea what he was talking about. She darted off.

By the time she got back to the apartment, Michelle was sitting on the couch with her legs crossed and munched on an apple. After hearing what had happened, Michelle brought up a question she had.

“So, he’s adamantly refusing to get divorced because of Mr. Hale Senior?

“That doesn’t sound right. He’s gained enough power and authority. He could even marry Melody ten times now if he wanted. No one can stop him.”

Sienna thought about it for a while. “Perhaps he’s worried about his grandpa’s condition. He was pretty much raised by his grandfather, after all. No matter how rebellious he could be, Clayton would still care about his grandfather’s well-being.”

“I suppose so. Anyway, he’s the one who’s in a hurry to marry his new bride. There’s no point in us worrying over the matter when it’s not even related to us. You’ll just have to wait for one more month,” Michelle said, trying to console her.

Sienna picked up a strawberry and shoved it into her mouth. She recalled the audition that had been held in the afternoon.” How did the audition go? Did you make it?”

Michelle became very excited at the mention of the audition. “I got accepted! It’s one of the minor supporting roles, but I’m already very happy with it. I probably won’t have a lot of screen time, but I like the character.

“I’ll appear as the queen’s pushy and arrogant younger sister. I’ve always wanted to try acting in villainous roles.”

Sienna asked curiously, “Did Rosa give you a hard time?”

Michelle described the event in full detail. “I tried the approach that you suggested. She was going to lecture me about how over the top my acting was. However, I started apologizing profusely while praising her at the same time.

“I mentioned how she was very observant and thanked her for her feedback. You didn’t have a chance to see the expression on her face. She was so pleased to be showered with praise.”

Sienna chuckled. “That’s the kind of person she is. She enjoys being praised and admired. You’ll only make her more defensive if you try to pick a fight with her.”

Back then, Sienna noticed that some girls liked to follow Rosa around. Those who praised her would receive certain benefits. On the other hand, those who got on her wrong side would face the repercussions. Melody was the most fitting example of

this.

Their class monitor during the first year of high school, Reggie Milhide, and Rosa were childhood friends. Their parents were friends as well.

Reggie had always indulged Rosa, regardless of what kind of requests she had. He was almost like a blind follower of hers. However, Rosa was sometimes cold and distant toward him.

At some point, Reggie had somehow fallen for Melody instead. He tried his best to win her favor. Other than discussing their homework together, Reggie would sometimes give her drinks and snacks.

Rosa flew into a rage when she found out about it. She felt as though someone had stolen the pet dog she had been keeping for years. She couldn’t do anything to change Reggie’s mind, so she warned Melody to stay away from him.

Melody was rather naive and innocent back then. She explained and clarified that she and Reggie were just classmates. There was nothing wrong with classmates discussing their homework together.

Everyone had their own will and the right to decide what to do. Rosa had no right to put these restrictions on them.

Rosa was infuriated by those words. She would lead a group of girls and pick on Melody whenever she spotted the chance.

Sienna snapped out of her reverie. Michelle told her just then, “By the way, we have news from the private investigator. There are quite a few people with the same name as Xavier Jaeger, the person you’ve asked me to look for.

“They’ve found a total of 46 people who fit the description so far. These people could be found in different parts of the country. We’ll have to wait a while for more news.”

The light in Sienna’s eyes dimmed. “It’s alright. I can wait.”

“Xavier left without a word back then. Could he have gone into hiding?” Michelle voiced her suspicions.

Sienna lowered her gaze. “Anyhow, I still wish to get the answers I’m looking for.”

The next day, Miles took Melody to Clayton’s office. He placed a document on the table and said excitedly, “This is the new movie directed by Carl Hilton, ‘The Chronicle of Fallen Stars.’ It’s a grade S+ project under Jillians Media, and the movie is an adaptation of a popular novel.

“The production team is pretty good. Why don’t we help secure the female lead’s role for Melody? It’ll be her debut work. Melody might even rise to stardom by appearing in this huge-scale project.”
