Chapter 23

Sienna was surprisingly determined this time. She didn’t go back to the house for an entire week. Neither she nor Clayton had tried to contact the other person.

Michelle was the biggest winner in this situation. Not only did Sienna help prepare her meals, but she had also cleaned and tidied up her place.

“Enna! These braised ribs are so delicious!” Michelle gushed, holding her fork up. “Eating the food you make every day makes me feel like the happiest girl in the world!”

“You’re exaggerating.” Sienna put more meat on her plate. “I still think that I should pay you some rent for letting me stay here.”

Sienna had originally planned to stay only a few days. Yet, she ended up staying here for a week. She was starting to feel a bit bad for troubling Michelle.

“No, you don’t have to! It’s not like I need that money from you. You cooked for me every day and even folded the clothes

that I left lying around everywhere in the house.”

Michelle put down her fork and hugged Sienna. “I’m even a little jealous of Clayton for having such an amazing wife. I wish I could keep you to myself forever.”

“Hold on.” Sienna put her hand against Michelle’s forehead and pushed her back slightly. “Why are you being so cringey while we’re eating? Did you memorize those lines from some weird TV show again?”

“I mean those words from the bottom of my heart!” Michelle chuckled mischievously.

After they finished eating, Sienna went back to her studying.

She hadn’t received any good news from any company after attending the interviews. Most of those companies did not select her due to reasons such as her being a married woman and the fact that there were periods of her being unemployed.

Most of all, it was because there was nothing special or noteworthy about her current design skills.

Sienna had learned a lot of theoretical knowledge in college, but she had relatively little practical experience. The industry

had been evolving rapidly over time.

As someone with zero work experience, she must have seemed rather green and unprepared to others.

Therefore, Sienna decided to put her plan of finding a job on hold for now. She focused on gaining more knowledge by reading various books on interior design.

She also took notes while watching case study videos that famous interior designers had released online. She did all these preparations to avoid looking ignorant during her next interview.

This afternoon, Michelle dragged Sienna, who was supposed to be studying, along to a hotel near Horizon Film Studios. People had lined up along the corridor.

Some of the actors were practicing their acting by themselves. A few were crying out loud, begging for mercy, whereas some were trying to give the most vicious, menacing look with their eyes. Sienna was amazed by how focused and serious these people were.

She heard that a renowned director would be directing this period drama about the story of a female general, Estelle Stant. They had received an investment of up to nine figures.

Michelle started feeling a bit bored after working as a model for two years. She was keen on trying out acting.

She had been doing that at home for the past few days. Michelle would randomly switch between the roles of a corny man, a villainess, or a naive heroine. Sienna often felt dumbfounded by Michelle’s strange actions.

Michelle was extremely excited as she arrived at the venue since she finally got a chance to join an audition.

After getting her number, the two of them sat in a corner of the room. Sienna flipped through the booklet detailing Estelle’s biography. She lifted her brows.

“You’re a model who’s just started trying out acting, yet you plan on auditioning for one of the more prominent supporting roles? That’s no different than an elementary school student taking the SAT.”

Michelle patted her chest and said confidently, “There’s no harm in trying. I might just land the role if I’m lucky enough.”

Her eyes lit up just then. “Why don’t you join the audition too? I’m sure you’ll beat all the ladies here with your good looks.”

Sienna shook her head and rejected the idea without even thinking about it. “I have no talent or interest in acting. We had to shoot a video for a group assignment during college. We had to do over 20 takes because I’d start laughing whenever I faced the camera.

“The director couldn’t possibly stand me doing that during actual filming. They might even want to beat me up if I do that.”

“Ugh… I’m getting nervous hearing you say that. I need to release some of that nervousness.” Michelle clutched her tummy and hurried toward the restroom.

Sienna helped watch over her seat while she was away. As she continued reading the biography, Sienna suddenly detected the smell of strong perfume.

“Sienna Winger, don’t tell me you’re here for the audition too?” A woman in thick make-up strutted over to her in high heels.

Sienna lifted her head and saw that it was Rosa Sutton. She and Rosa went to the same high school and college.

The two of them hardly knew each other at first. However, Rosa was the leader of the group of girls who bullied Melody in high school. Sienna had gotten on Rosa’s wrong side ever since she helped Melody.

Even after Sienna had stopped being friends with Melody, her relationship with Rosa was still the same.

Sienna took a glance at the name tag on her chest. “Are you the producer of this show?”

“Why? Are you thinking of securing a role through the back door?” Rosa crossed her arms.

Sienna looked at her from top to bottom and said mockingly, “I’m not even sure if the back door you provide really works. I’m afraid it’ll only be an empty promise.”

“Ha!” Rosa scoffed. “I’ve invested in the show’s production. I can pick whoever I want to appear in this show!”
