Save Your Pleas: I’m With Your Best Friend Now Novel Chapter 39

Chapter 39

“A-Ash… My only regret is not living long enough to see Evangeline… get married,” Michael

said. “Take care of her for me…”

His blood-soaked body haunted Asher’s dreams night after night.

Evangeline was his responsibility. She was an obligation born of gratitude.

But Juliet was someone he wanted to hold in his hands.

Why couldn’t the two coexist?

Asher couldn’t make sense of it.

Just then, his phone buzzed in his pocket. It was Jesse.

“Mr. Greene, there’s something I think you should know,” Jesse said carefully.

“Speak.”

“Mrs Greene ran into one of your high school classmates today, Caleb.” Jesse paused, choosing his words. “He was very disrespectful toward her. He even got touchy.”

Asher frowned.

“Mr. Greene?”

“Find out where he is. Now.”

Asher hung up.

He rose to his feet. His eyes turned razor-sharp. Darkness swirled in them like it could swallow someone whole.

That night, Caleb drunkenly stumbled back to his villa.

He was humming a tune and seemed to be in a good mood. Sure, Juliet might have embarrassed him earlier, but in his eyes, it was nothing more than her playing hard to get.

She was someone Asher no longer wanted. What right did she have to act all high and mighty?

Sooner or later, he’d make her kneel before him.

He imagined how beautiful her delicate face would look under humiliation.

Suddenly, a figure blocked his path.

Before he could react, a brutal kick slammed into his stomach. The force sent him flying backward. His body crashed into a concrete pillar.

“Who the-”

His words cut off as a hand seized his collar and yanked him upright. A punch followed, smashing straight into his face.

Caleb’s nose broke instantly. Blood sprayed down his cheeks.

The pain sobered him up, and he finally saw who it was. “Mr… Greene.’

Asher didn’t say a word. Another vicious punch split Caleb’s lip.

“I’m sorry… It’s all my fault, Mr. Greene.”

Asher grabbed his hair and forced his head up. “Which hand did you use to touch her?”

“I-I didn’t touch her. It was just a joke—’

“A joke?” he snapped. “She’s my wife. You’ve wanted her for years, and you’re still trying? Looks like you haven’t learned your lesson.”

Asher tightened his grip.

Caleb felt like his scalp was being torn apart. He begged frantically. “I’m sorry, Ash! I really am! I’ll never touch her again!”

Asher let go. Caleb collapsed to the ground like a heap of mud.

Just as he thought he’d survived, a polished leather shoe slammed into his chest. The kick felt like it was about to shatter his bones.

Caleb rolled across the ground and curled up

in

agony.

Asher looked down at him from above like he was nothing more than an ant.

He brought his foot down on Caleb’s wrist and ground it in.

The sound of bone snapping echoed in the stillness of the night.

Asher acted like he didn’t hear it and kept kicking. He didn’t hold back.

“Mr. Greene! Stop! You’ll kill him!”

Jesse shook at the scene before him. If Asher went on, he would kill someone.

He rushed forward and wrapped his arms around Asher’s waist from behind. Asher’s chest heaved violently. The fury in his eyes hadn’t subsided.
