Asher had instructed Jesse to find a way to get Juliet to spend Asher’s money earlier. When Jesse looked into the matter, he thought Juliet had actually not spent a single cent.
Yet it turned out that Jesse had just been checking the wrong account!
Jesse’s error had caused Asher great distress. Asher was going to skin Jesse alive the moment Jesse reported the truth to Asher!
Juliet didn’t want to owe the Greene family anything, nor get her parents involved with that family, because of this money. So, she made a phone call to her mother right in front of Jesse’s
eyes.
The phone rang for a long while before Jolene Coleman, Juliet’s mother, picked up the call. There was a hint of exhaustion in Jolene’s voice when she greeted Juliet.
Juliet was about to ask Jolene about the money when Jolene suddenly spoke hurriedly.
“Jules… Did something happen between you and Asher? I… I was transferred from my post in the sales department to work as a janitor!”
The call volume was quite loud, so Jesse could hear every single word Jolene said over the phone.
“No way! Mr. Greene couldn’t have done that!” Jesse instinctively leapt to Asher’s defense.
Even though Asher had a terrible temper, he still wouldn’t have gone to such dastardly lengths to deal with Juliet’s family.
It was true that several members of the Stone family worked for Greene Corp. Even though Asher gave them seemingly proper positions to work in, Asher had actually instructed his people to keep a close eye on these relatives of Juliet’s.
The total sum of money these relatives spent was barely pocket change compared to the Greene family’s wealth.
Juliet’s father, James Stone, snatched the phone away from Jolene. Anger spilled forth from his voice as he spoke.
