Chapter 18
“But…” Zachary deliberately dragged the word. His pale gray eyes lingered intently on her lips, still glistening from the soup she had just drunk.
Juliet’s heart inexplicably tightened. “But what?”
Zachary leaned forward slightly, lowering his voice as he came closer. That clean, woody scent enveloped her again. “How about giving that housewarming idea some thought?”
Juliet froze.
A teasing smile played in his eyes. “Or rather… bed-warming.”
Her face exploded into heat, flushing red instantly. The warmth spread from her cheeks all the way to her ears. Embarrassed and annoyed, she sat back down, grabbed her spoon, and shot him a glare. “Zachary! Be serious!”
“I’m very serious.” Zachary spread his hands innocently. “You just moved in. You should warm the place up, give it some life. You live alone. Aren’t you afraid at night? I’m just… worried about your safety.”
So, he was concerned for her safety. This man was too good. With just a few words, he could completely throw her off guard, yet leave her with nothing to argue.
Juliet picked up a huge piece of rib and put it on his plate. “I’m perfectly safe. Eat up!”
Zachary laughed softly, his chest vibrating with the sound. The laughter tickled her heart like
a feather.
After the meal, Zachary took the initiative to clean up. When Juliet tried to help, he stopped her. “You sit. I’ve got it.”
So, she sat on the couch, watching his back as he moved around the kitchen. He was tall and well-built. Wearing that cartoon cat apron, he didn’t look ridiculous at all. In fact, he gave off a homey feeling.
Water ran steadily as he washed the dishes, his movements elegant and efficient.
If it were Asher, he wouldn’t even pour himself a glass of water. He’d wait for Agnes to deliver it right to his hand. Between Juliet and Asher, there had always been an invisible wall called status.”
Yet, Zachary, another man born into privilege, could blend in so naturally into this everyday
scene.

Chapter 18
Once he finished washing up, Zachary dried his hands and put his coat back on. Instantly, he transformed back into that refined, untouchable tycoon.
“I should get going,” he said. “I’ve got a meeting this afternoon.”
Juliet stood and walked him to the door. “Zach, thank you so much for today. You changed the locks and helped me solve such a big problem.”
“You don’t need to be so polite with me.” Zachary slipped on his coat and lifted a hand, wanting to ruffle her hair. But his hand paused mid-air, and in the end, he only gently patted her shoulder. “Call me anytime if you need anything.”
“Okay.”
The door closed. The gentle smile on Zachary’s face instantly vanished. He leaned against the wall by the door, not leaving right away.
He raised the hand that had just touched Juliet’s shoulder. His fingertips still seemed to hold onto that soft sensation. He brought them to his nose, closed his eyes, and inhaled lightly. The scent was impossible to describe. It was something uniquely Juliet’s.
Ever since the first time he had carried her on his back years ago, he had dreamed of that fragrance night after night. No one knew that Zachary Wilson, the distinguished gentleman who ruled the stock market, had been falling asleep with a woman’s photograph since his
teenage years.
In his pale gray eyes surged a possessiveness so intense it bordered on madness. Excellent. His little sun had finally begun to see him.
