Miles immediately rushed to get the trash can, patting her back gently.
He turned his head to glare viciously at me. “Bianca, what do you want? I
already explained it to you!”
My chest felt tight and suffocating.
I turned and walked toward the door. Just as I reached the elevator, my wrist
was violently yanked back.
Miles gripped my wrist, his brow furrowed. “I’ve explained, Eva is just my
friend! She just wants to give birth safely.”
“You should be grateful Eva has no intention of marrying me!”
“Even she, an illegitimate daughter, has such grace. As the Harper family
heir, why are you so petty?”
I looked up and glared at him, my voice trembling.
“Miles, what does this have to do with grace or being petty?”
Tears swirled in my eyes. “You are a top finance student. I can’t out-talk
you…”
I paused, lowered my head, my tone filled with exhaustion. “Let’s break up.”
Tears smashed onto the back of my hand.
Miles was stunned. He loosened his grip, sounding helpless.
“How about this: I’ll take three days a week to care for Eva, and come home
for the remaining four. Is that acceptable?”
He emphasized his tone. “Bianca, this is my final concession. Don’t push
your luck!”
I took a deep breath.
“No need. After we break up, you can stay with her every day. Don’t waste
time on me.”
He stared at me intensely. “Are you sure?”
I turned my face away and pressed the elevator button.
He suddenly sneered and shoved me hard. “Fine, keep acting up!”
Caught off guard, I stumbled backward, slamming heavily against the wall. I
gasped in pain.
Miles glanced at me with disgust, turned around, and walked away.
Eva stood at the door, deliberately shouting, “Miles, speak nicely! Girls are
cute when they throw tantrums. You have to coax her!”
Miles draped his arm around her. “Let her be. She has thick skin.”
“She chased me for three years. No matter how much I scolded her, she
wouldn’t leave. She likes suffering”
He squeezed Eva’s arm and smirked. “She’s troublesome. It’s much more
comfortable with you.”
Eva twisted her body dramatically and poked his chest.
Miles scoffed, “Tch,” and deliberately placed his hand on her chest. “So flat.
Can you even be called a woman?”
Laughing and playing, they slammed the door shut.
The world seemed to mute, leaving only the sound of my rapid heartbeat.
Each beat felt like a hammer smashing against my chest.
The elevator finally arrived. I frantically pressed the close button.
The doors slowly closed, but the elevator didn’t move immediately.
Suddenly, Miles’ mother called.
“Bianca, I know about Miles and Eva. It is Miles’ fault, and I’ve scolded him.”
“Don’t take it to heart. As long as he still has you in his heart, life can go on.”
